Q&A

The request is for a full Evolv style walk through system at five (5) entrances at the Main Campus.

Is there a preference on brand regarding the security systems?
There is no preference on brand. As long as the weapon detection system meets/has all required salient characteristics and performs the exact requirements specified, the offer will be acceptable.

Would VA Loma Linda Healthcare System like a US made or out of country system?
Buy American statute applies on this acquisition. The system must be manufactured in United States.

Solicitation Section 10. Specific Mandatory Tasks and Associated Deliverables, Requirement A states Electrical connections will be provided by Loma Linda HCS Engineering/Electrical team. Does low voltage count as electrical?
Yes. Low Voltage systems will also fall under the HCS Engineering/Electrical team, with the exception of electronic devices, such as tablets.

Specific Mandatory Tasks and Associated Deliverables, Requirement b.xii states The system must be installed without significant modification to a facility must be simple bolt install system without modification to the current floor/wall or having to make a channel or cut outs to the system to fit flat and level with the floor. Can vendors use the opening of the existing concrete joint to bury outdoor-rated cable from the sensor/bollard to the outside junction box with outdoor epoxy to fill the joint to cover the cable and level the surface?
The system will be mounted in placed on the inside of each of the five (5) pre-determined entrance doors. The lanes will be mounted onto the floor at each entrance using drilled holes where needed, but the flooring will not be compromised by being cut in to in any other way. Concrete will not be removed in order for the lanes to be lowered into the floor. The required wiring and cabling will need to be routed through the walls as needed to hardwire the lanes to the Police Dispatch and for power. Flooring/concrete will not be removed to run conduit for power or internet/Wi-Fi connectivity.

Solicitation Section 10. Specific Mandatory Tasks and Associated Deliverables, Requirement b.xx states The system must physically connect from each lane to a tablet located in dispatch as the system shall be monitored via tablets in VA Loma Linda s Police Dispatch Center. Please describe the physical connection (cabling/wiring) to tablet. Can monitoring via tablets be a wireless connection (WiFi/Internet) instead of hardwiring?
The system must be hardwired into the VA Police Dispatch Center at the Main Facility, due to the unreliability of the facility Wi-Fi. In addition, a monitoring tablet will be required at the Emergency Department Police Desk, with the ability to view the Emergency Department Gurney Entrance and the Emergency Department Entrance.

Is there a Wi-Fi network available for connectivity?
Yes, but the local Wi-Fi is inconsistent and unreliable.

Is cellular connectivity a desired option?
Unknown if that is a feasible option.

If wireless connectivity is an option, does cable still need to be pulled from each lane to the Police Dispatch Room 1A-88?
Yes. Police Dispatch must have a hardwired connections from each of the five (5) entrances.

Which entrances do the automatic door openers need to be linked directly to the systems to prevent building entry upon a detection event?
All doors have auto door openers; all need to be linked directly to the system.

Can you please confirm if the communication cable required from each Weapons Detection Lane(s) to the dispatch 1A-88 is to be run in existing pathway/conduit? Or is the contractor responsible for creating the conduit pathway from each lane to dispatch 1A-88? Can you please confirm which direction should be included?
It will be the contractor s responsibility to create the conduit pathway from each lane to dispatch. There may be conduit from the doors to dispatch, but that is not known. Research will need to be conducted and coordinated through Facilities Management (Electronics Shop) and could potentially take some time.
