Overview: The Iowa Department of Transportation is seeking bids for; One 16'2"x14' insulated overhead door, one commercial jackshaft operator w/ environmental protections (wash bay), and necessary electrical for the CJO unit. *Existing operator set up is a trolley operator. Please see Attachment tab for photos and specifications. The location for this project is the Waukon, IA Maintenance Garage located at 1380 9th Street SW, Waukon, IA 52172.

  • Acceptable brands are listed within the Specifications document and within the Line Items tab. Pre-Bid substitutions are allowed on this bid. Before providing bid, please complete the Pre-Bid Request for Approval of Products or Materials form located on the Attachments tab. Following business unit review, you will be notified if your substituted material was approved or denied for this project.

Scope:
  • Contractor to remove and replace existing South 16'2"x14' overhead door and replace with acceptable model as outlined in specifications w/ 3-24"x12" DG lites . *Stainless steel track, hinges, cables, & 3" sealed bearing nylon rollers.
  • Contractor to remove existing commercial trolley operator and replace with commercial jackshaft operator (similar to north overhead door). New CJO must have environmental protection equipment installed- this unit is in the wash bay.
  • Contractor to complete any necessary electrical work including extension of power and conduit as required for operation of new CJO.

Award: It is the intent of the Iowa DOT to award the contract to the responsible bidder whose submitted quotation is the most advantageous to the Iowa DOT, cost and other factors considered. Other factors include, but are not limited to: Meeting or exceeding mandatory requirements, proposed staffing, and meeting required time schedule.

  • Estimated start date -Upon issuance of award ( The date shall be coordinated with the IDOT Project Manager. (This is the estimated start date after all required documents are received (i.e., Insurance, performance bond and vendor signed contract).
  • Estimated project end date - 05 /01/2024 (This includes re solution to all punch list items, inspections and DOT acceptance typically used in construction bids).
Note: Contractors to propose a suggested revised completion date taking into consideration weather conditions or other factors. This is a required Attribute. See Attribute #12.

Site Visits: A pre-bid site visit is recommended but not required. A site visit to verify final fit measurements is required of the awarded contractor . To schedule a site visit, contractors must contact the Purchasing Agent overseeing the bid at kyle.williams@iowadot.us with a date and time of when the awarded contractor wishes to conduct a site visit before the question cutoff date/time or post-bid for the awarded contractor.
