2 Intended Purpose or Application
The University is soliciting quotations from Testing Laboratories to analyze various samples on the Iowa State
University Campus in Ames. The Contractor will be required to collect some but not all of the samples. The testing
lab must be licensed with the Environmental Protected Agency (EPA) and the Iowa Department of Natural Resource
(IDNR). The awarded testing lab must also follow all EPA, IDNR, and local regulations pertaining to drinking water
and wastewater standards. The services shall include all costs associated with travel, required sampling equipment,
collection costs, sample bottles, analysis, and reporting to the university and appropriate regulatory agents.

9 Central Campus Wastewater Outfall
Owner will typically do sample collection at this site, with the Contractor to arrange to pick up at EH&S Building and
analyze samples. Contractor is also asked to provide a bid for isolated sampling by contractor. This location is a
below grade metering vault. See Section E Outfall Collection Site Map for metering location. Flow metering for this
site is obtained from the City owned ISCO 4210 flow meter. Sampling contractor shall be required to connect this
meter to their sampler. All Contractor equipment shall be standard equipment intended for sewer sampling. ISU will
arrange on-site meeting between City personnel and Contractor prior to first official sample to allow City staff the
opportunity to witness and approve Contractor equipment and methods.

1 EH&S Wastewater Outfall (Site is currently inactive, Owner will provide notification if it is to be tested)
0 Owner will typically do sample collection at this site, with the Contractor to arrange to pick up at EH&S Building and
analyze samples. Contractor is also asked to provide a bid for isolated sampling by contractor. This location is a
below grade manhole SA22B6. See Section E Outfall Collection Site Map. The sample strainer is to be attached to
the weir as show in Section F. With the exception of the modified weir, all Contractor equipment shall be standard
equipment intended for sewer sampling. ISU will arrange on-site meeting between City personnel and Contractor
prior to first official sample to allow City staff the opportunity to witness and approve Contractor equipment and
methods.
