The Bearwise program is a unique program that has went through an extreme vetting process through state bear biologists to make sure it is based on sound science and provides a clear and consistent message nationwide to all states participating. Pixyjack is the sole source printer and copyright holder of this educational material and no one else can print or create BearWise material. There are other bear programs out there such as BearAware in Canada and Bear Wise, (has a space in the name). Those are not vetted by bear biologists and are not set up to provide consistency across the United States on guidance and education materials. They are also not sponsored by AFWA or MAFWA as programs vetted by bear biologists. It is the intention of the Department of Natural Resources to purchase various copyrighted BearWise items to educate the public on bear safety.
