28. COORDINATE INSTRUMENTATION & CONTROLS SCOPE OF WORK WITH ALL TRADES TO AVOID
CONFLICTS AND MAINTAIN CONSTRUCTION SCHEDULE. REFER TO COMPLETE PROJECT WORK
PACKAGE TO FACILITATE FIELD COORDINATION.
5. EXISTING EQUIPMENT INFORMATION SHOWN ON THESE DRAWINGS SHOULD BE FIELD VERIFIED.
CONFIRM NEW EQUIPMENT LOCATIONS WITH OWNER AND ADJUST AS REQUIRED.

BOXES, ETC. FOR A COMPLETE AND FINISHED INSTALLATION.
30. THE OWNER SHALL HAVE FIRST RIGHT OF REFUSAL FOR ALL SALVAGEABLE MATERIALS. THE
CONTRACTOR SHALL DELIVER SALVAGED MATERIALS TO A LOCATION AS DIRECTED BY THE OWNER
IN ACCORDANCE WITH THE CONTRACT DOCUMENTS.

7. CONTRACTOR SHALL DISPOSE OF ALL DEMOLISHED AND UNUSED EQUIPMENT AND MATERIALS
OFFSITE IN ACCORDANCE WITH LOCAL, STATE, AND FEDERAL REGULATIONS.
8. CONTRACTOR SHALL MAINTAIN A RED-LINE SET OF CONSTRUCTION DOCUMENTS DURING
CONSTRUCTION. RED-LINE DRAWINGS SHALL BE SUBMITTED TO THE OWNER UPON PROJECT
COMPLETION.
19. THE ELECTRICAL INSTALLATION SHALL COMPLY WITH THE CURRENT NEC ARTICLES 500. PROVIDE
CONDUIT SEALS AT ALL BOUNDARY LOCATIONS AS REQUIRED.
20. CIRCUIT NUMBERS ARE SHOWN NEXT TO ELECTRICAL DEVICES ONLY. REFER TO THE EQUIPMENT
SCHEDULE IF A CIRCUIT ASSIGNMENT IS NOT SHOWN ON THE PLANS. PROVIDE WIRING AS SHOWN

GENERATOR, FIRE PUMP TRANSFER SWITCH, DISCONNECT SWITCH, CONDUCTORS, AND OTHER EQUIPMENT AND WIRING AS SHOWN ON THE DRAWINGS, AS WELL

METHODS, TECHNIQUES, SEQUENCES OR PROCEDURES REQUIRED FOR THE
CONTRACTOR TO PERFORM HIS WORK. THE CONTRACTOR WILL BE SOLELY AND
COMPLETELY RESPONSIBLE FOR CONDITIONS OF THE JOB SITE, INCLUDING

COMPLIANCE WITH REQUIREMENTS FOR INSTALLATION AND OTHER CONDITIONS

INSTALLATION.
3. PROCEED WITH INSTALLATION ONLY AFTER UNSATISFACTORY CONDITIONS HAVE BEEN
CORRECTED.

CONNECTION, AND INTEGRITY OF EACH ELEMENT OF ENGINE GENERATOR SYSTEM
BEFORE AND DURING SYSTEM OPERATION. CHECK FOR AIR, EXHAUST, AND FLUID
LEAKS.
2. COORDINATE TESTS WITH TESTS FOR TRANSFER SWITCHES AND RUN THEM
CONCURRENTLY.
3. LEAK TEST: AFTER INSTALLATION, CHARGE EXHAUST, COOLANT, AND FUEL SYSTEMS
AND TEST FOR LEAKS. REPAIR LEAKS AND RETEST UNTIL NO LEAKS EXIST.
4. OPERATIONAL TEST: AFTER ELECTRICAL CIRCUITRY HAS BEEN ENERGIZED, START UNITS
TO CONFIRM PROPER MOTOR ROTATION AND UNIT OPERATION FOR GENERATOR AND
ASSOCIATED EQUIPMENT.
5. RETEST: CORRECT DEFICIENCIES IDENTIFIED BY TESTS AND OBSERVATIONS, AND
RETEST UNTIL SPECIFIED REQUIREMENTS ARE MET.
6. REPORT RESULTS OF TESTS AND INSPECTIONS IN WRITING. RECORD ADJUSTABLE
RELAY SETTINGS AND MEASURED INSULATION RESISTANCES, TIME DELAYS, AND OTHER
VALUES AND OBSERVATIONS. ATTACH A LABEL OR TAG TO EACH TESTED COMPONENT
INDICATING SATISFACTORY COMPLETION OF TESTS.
B. PREPARATION
F. DEMONSTRATION
1. INTERRUPTION OF EXISTING ELECTRICAL SERVICE: DO NOT INTERRUPT ELECTRICAL
SERVICE TO FACILITIES OCCUPIED BY OWNER OR OTHERS UNLESS PERMITTED UNDER
THE FOLLOWING CONDITIONS AND THEN ONLY AFTER ARRANGING TO PROVIDE
TEMPORARY ELECTRICAL SERVICE ACCORDING TO REQUIREMENTS INDICATED:
1. ENGAGE A FACTORY-AUTHORIZED SERVICE REPRESENTATIVE TO TRAIN OWNER'S
MAINTENANCE PERSONNEL TO ADJUST, OPERATE, AND MAINTAIN PACKAGED ENGINE
GENERATORS.
c. NOTIFY OWNER NO FEWER THAN TWO WORKING DAYS IN ADVANCE OF PROPOSED
INTERRUPTION OF ELECTRICAL SERVICE.
d. DO NOT PROCEED WITH INTERRUPTION OF ELECTRICAL SERVICE WITHOUT OWNER'S
WRITTEN PERMISSION.
C. INSTALLATION
1. COMPLY WITH NECA 1 AND NECA 404.
2. COMPLY WITH PACKAGED ENGINE GENERATOR MANUFACTURERS' WRITTEN
INSTALLATION AND ALIGNMENT INSTRUCTIONS AND WITH NFPA 110.

3. EQUIPMENT MOUNTING:
a. INSTALL PACKAGED ENGINE GENERATORS ON CAST-IN-PLACE CONCRETE
EQUIPMENT BASES. COMPLY WITH REQUIREMENTS ON DRAWINGS FOR EQUIPMENT
BASES AND FOUNDATIONS
b. INSTALL PACKAGED ENGINE GENERATOR WITH VIBRATION ISOLATION DEVICES
DESCRIBED IN SECTION 2.9.
4. INSTALL PACKAGED ENGINE GENERATOR TO PROVIDE ACCESS, WITHOUT REMOVING
CONNECTIONS OR ACCESSORIES, FOR PERIODIC MAINTENANCE.
5. EXHAUST SYSTEM: INSTALL SCHEDULE 40 BLACK STEEL PIPING WITH WELDED JOINTS
AND CONNECT TO ENGINE MUFFLER. RE-USE EXISTING THIMBLE AT CEILING. PIPING
SHALL BE SAME DIAMETER AS MUFFLER OUTLET.
6. INSTALL ELECTRICAL DEVICES FURNISHED BY EQUIPMENT MANUFACTURERS BUT NOT
SPECIFIED TO BE FACTORY MOUNTED.
D. IDENTIFICATION
1. INSTALL A SIGN INDICATING THE GENERATOR NEUTRAL IS BONDED TO THE MAIN
SERVICE NEUTRAL AT THE MAIN SERVICE LOCATION.
E. FIELD QUALITY CONTROL
1. TESTING AGENCY:
a. PERFORM TESTS RECOMMENDED BY MANUFACTURER AND EACH VISUAL AND

MECHANICAL INSPECTION AND ELECTRICAL AND MECHANICAL TEST LISTED IN FIRST
TWO SUBPARAGRAPHS BELOW, AS SPECIFIED IN NETA ATS. CERTIFY COMPLIANCE
WITH TEST PARAMETERS.
a. VISUAL AND MECHANICAL INSPECTION:
a.a. COMPARE EQUIPMENT NAMEPLATE DATA WITH DRAWINGS AND THE
SPECIFICATIONS.
a.b. INSPECT PHYSICAL AND MECHANICAL CONDITION.
a.c. INSPECT ANCHORAGE, ALIGNMENT, AND GROUNDING.
a.d. VERIFY THAT THE UNIT IS CLEAN.
b. ELECTRICAL AND MECHANICAL TESTS:
b.a. TEST PROTECTIVE RELAY DEVICES.
b.b. VERIFY PHASE ROTATION, PHASING, AND SYNCHRONIZED OPERATION AS
REQUIRED BY THE APPLICATION.
b.c. FUNCTIONALLY TEST ENGINE SHUTDOWN FOR LOW OIL PRESSURE,
OVERTEMPERATURE, OVERSPEED, AND OTHER PROTECTION FEATURES AS
APPLICABLE.
b.d. VERIFY CORRECT FUNCTIONING OF THE GOVERNOR AND REGULATOR.
c. NFPA 110 ACCEPTANCE TESTS: PERFORM TESTS REQUIRED BY NFPA 110 THAT ARE
ADDITIONAL TO THOSE SPECIFIED HERE, INCLUDING, BUT NOT LIMITED TO,
SINGLE-STEP FULL-LOAD PICKUP TEST.
d. BATTERY TESTS: EQUALIZE CHARGING OF BATTERY CELLS ACCORDING TO

MANUFACTURER'S WRITTEN INSTRUCTIONS. RECORD INDIVIDUAL CELL VOLTAGES.
a. MEASURE CHARGING VOLTAGE AND VOLTAGES BETWEEN AVAILABLE BATTERY
TERMINALS FOR FULL-CHARGING AND FLOAT-CHARGING CONDITIONS. CHECK
ELECTROLYTE LEVEL AND SPECIFIC GRAVITY UNDER BOTH CONDITIONS.
b. VERIFY THAT MEASUREMENTS ARE WITHIN MANUFACTURER'S SPECIFICATIONS.
d. BATTERY-CHARGER TESTS: VERIFY SPECIFIED RATES OF CHARGE FOR BOTH
EQUALIZING AND FLOAT-CHARGING CONDITIONS.
e. SYSTEM INTEGRITY TESTS: METHODICALLY VERIFY PROPER INSTALLATION,
