Contractor Questions - What is the estimated construction budget? Response: No, construction budget
will be provided.
Contractor Questions - What temporary utilities are going to be required for this project? What are the
associated permits with those utilities? Response: Contractor to determine. See Section 01500.
Contractor Questions – Bid Item No 37 Topsoil for 439 CY. Does this quantity include the filter
strip? Response: No, topsoil calcs do not include filter strip growing media
Contractor Questions - Some spots in the project files say the contractor has 150 days from notice to
proceed to complete the work, and other spots say 180 days. Response: As per the project manual -the
project which will be substantially completed within 150 days of the receipt of the notice to proceed and
the final completion day is 180 days from notice to proceed - 30 days after substantial completion.
Contractor Questions - The specs state all permits are required to be obtained by the contractor. What
are the expected required permits and their associated fees? Response: Over the counter plumbing
permit for the drinking fountain.
Contractor Questions – The same is mentioned for the utility connection work. Can you provide the
same clarification? Response: No additional permits required.
Contractor Questions - I also haven’t seen any answers from questions at the pre bid meeting posted. Is
that anticipated at some point? Response: At this solicitation, all questions are required to be
submitted by email so that we can provide a formal, written response and ensure consistent
communication to all bidders. Answers to eligible questions are being addressed through addenda or
written clarifications, rather than posting a separate Q&A document from the pre‑bid meeting.
Contractor Questions - Can you clarify who is responsible for testing on this project? Response:
Contractor to pay for testing as noted in project manual including Sections 31 20 00 – Earth Moving, 32
12 16 – Asphalt Paving, 32 13 13 – Concrete Paving
Contractor Questions - Please confirm that no electrical scope (site lighting, power distribution, etc.) is
included in this project. Confirm that only low-voltage irrigation wiring is required and a location for
connection to Phase 1 will be provided. Response: Yes, low voltage irrigation wiring is all that is required
with point of connection to phase 1 shown on irrigation plan.
Contractor Questions – Bid Item 25 Drainage fill – is this intended to cover the 6” depth of drainage fill
within the play area only? Please clarify. Response: Drainage fill is for all drainage fill on site including
under the play area, filter strip and drainage trench.
Contractor Questions – Drainage trench. It appears there is just one very small area near the drinking
fountain. Please clarify/confirm the extent of the drainage trench. Please clarify
measurement/payment. Response: Dimensions added to plan to clarify extent of drainage trench. Pay
for drainage trench will be broken out by component parts.
Contractor Questions – There appears to be 2 new concrete spillways/splash pads shown at the east
end of the new parking lot, however there are no notes or callouts for them to be constructed. Please
clarify. Response: The splashpads at the planter will be constructed during Phase 1 with the planter.
Contractor Questions – Filter strip (4” perf pipe/fabric/drainage fill, 12” growing medium). Will a filter
strip bid item be added in a forthcoming addendum? Or will each item within be included in separate
bid items with new quantities? Response: Each item will be included separately to the bid items. See
updated quantities
Contractor Questions – Bid Item 11 Concrete curb ramp – 2EA. Sheet C2.0: There appears to be 2 EA
ramps at the crosswalk on the entry drive lane, however there is a 3rd note 2 and a long strip of what
appears to be detectable warning shown near the ADA parking stalls. The long strip of detectable
warning shading has no note 8 callout. Please clarify. Response: There are only two "Curb Ramps" at
the crosswalk on the entry drive. The 3rd (2) keynote is incorrect and will be removed. The long strip of
detectable warning in front of the ADA parking stalls is flush curb. Keynote 8 will be added to plans.
Contractor Questions – Parking Lot elevations - After stripping, there appears to be some low areas that
would need some minor fills to design sub grade (2-6” in some areas, none needed in others). It appears
there will be app. 100 CY needed to bring the parking lot area up to sub grade prior to the 12” crushed
rock base. It appears there might be app. 100 CY of usable excavated material from the site. Will this be
measured/paid under the crushed rock item for more CY, or do you expect/anticipate the contractor to
use excavated material and include costs within the excavation item? Please clarify. Response: Per spec
section 31 20 00 Earth Moving, soil fill under walks and pavements is to use engineered fill (section
3.15). See Section 2.1 for engineered fill description. Engineered fill is to be bid as part of the
Earthwork/Rough grading bid item.
Contractor Questions – The specs also mention lime and cement treatments on the base, but I don’t see
those specifically called out anywhere to be performed. Can you please confirm if these will be
required? Response: No lime and cement treatment required.
Contractor Questions – Sheet C1.2, there is mention that any exposed utilities need to be plugged per
detail 9 on C5.1, but that detail doesn’t show the plugging details. There are also no notes on the sheets
to help quantify what all needs to be plugged. Can clarification be provided on this please? Response:
No existing utilities are expected to be abandoned and needing to be plugged on this phase. Sheet note
removed.
Contractor Questions – Also on sheet C1.2 there are bolded X’s with circles around them, but no note or
legend to state what these are for. Please clarify. Response: Bolded X's are for tree removal. Sheet
legend updated to reflect tree removal.
Contractor Questions – At the east end of the parking lot, it appears the new standard curb is to abut
the phase 1 planter wall? Is that section to be dowelled and epoxied? Response: New standard curb
abutting the plant wall does not need to be dowelled and epoxied to planter wall.
Contractor Questions – Sheet C1.2 mentions that the contractor needs to obtain a demolition permit.
Can clarification be provided on the fees required for this? It also mentions right below that, that we
need to obtain any other required permits. Can clarification be provided on what other permits are
needed and the fees associated with those as well? Response: No separate demolition permit required
and no other permits other than plumbing anticipated
Contractor Questions - I don’t see any details to show what the benches or litter receptacles are. Can
we get details so we fully understand what we are installing and the required process? – Response: See
Specifications
Contractor Questions - At the NE side of the project, the boundary between phase 1 and 2 is shown, but
it’s not super clear what part of the curb and outlets are expected to be completed in phase 2. It also
appears the curb is marked as double on the SW face of this area, is that correct? I also don’t see any
details or notes on the splash pad / outfalls in this area. Can you please clarify these? – Response:
Planter wall and curb inlets are being constructed as part of phase one . Phase 2 will construct the curb
that is against the planter wall.
Contractor Questions - Can you please provide clarification on the meaning and location of Sheet Note 5
on C3.0? – Response: There is an existing fence along the south property line that needs to be preserved
and protected during construction. Provide a 1 foot flat bench at existing grade at existing fence as to
not undermine and damage fence during construction.
Contractor Questions - On Sheet C4.0 – I see the invert elevations for the pipe, but not finish elevations
or rim elevations for the structures, can these be provided so we can get an accurate depth for all the
utilities? – Response: Grading plan (sheet C3.0) contains all elevation points for finish grade of proposed
work. We do not provide rim elevations for cleanout as they are to be set at the finish grade elevation.
Sheet C4.0 does give rim elevations for landscaping drains and outfalls.
Contractor Questions - The asphalt specs mention a pre-paving herbicide treatment, don’t specify if it
will be required for this project. Can you confirm please? – Response: Provide treatment and application
per spec section 32 12 16 Asphalt Paving.
