The purpose of the project is to modify 5 intersections in Beaverton shown in the project plans. The modifications are to enhance safety for pedestrians and bicyclists. The five intersections are as follows:
1. SW Cedar Hills Blvd & SW Fairfield Rd Traffic Signal Modification
2. SW Cedar Hills Blvd & SW Millikan Way Traffic Signal Modification
3. SW Farmington Rd & SW Watson Ave Street Lighting Improvement
4. SW 155th Avenue & SW Hart Rd Traffic Signal Modification
5. SW 155th Avenue & SW Beard Rd SW Nora Rd Flashing Beacon Installation
These safety improvements align with the city's goals for the communities.
The city was awarded this project as part of statewide transportation improvement program (STIP) program. The purpose of this program is to achieve a significant reduction in traffic fatalities and serious injuries on all public roads. Through history crash data and analysis, the city identified specific improvements at these intersections to prevent crashes.
