Description
Scope of Work Synopsis
The existing hot water heaters are old and failing in buildings 24, 51, and 53. This equipment was identified for replacement. In Building 24 (the existing single steam to domestic hot water converter is located in the basement in Room G015 and is in poor condition. It is assumed the unit capacity is a 3,000 MBU heat exchanger. The existing hot water converter is a horizontal shell and tube configuration mounted on a steel stand up against the wall. The replacement will be two new horizontal instantaneous steam water heaters mounted in one rack/stand. In Building 51 the existing (2) two semi-instantaneous packaged steam to domestic hot water heaters are both at the end of their useful life. The location of these water heaters is in Room BA-102. The replacement will be two identical semi-instantaneous vertical packaged steam water heaters. In Building 53 there are (2) two steam to domestic hot water tube heaters inside of tanks that, besides not meeting Legionella prevention requirements, are at end of life and need replacement. The tanks are located side by side in Room GS13 and are approximately 947 gallons each. The replacement will be two semi-instantaneous vertical packaged steam water heaters, similar to the heaters in Building 51.

Contractor shall provide all supervision, tools, labor, materials, equipment, transportation, incidentals, and testing necessary to completely prepare site for building operations, including demolition and removal of existing domestic water heating and piping equipment, and furnish labor and materials and perform work for Replace Hot Water Generators in Buildings 53, 51 & 24, Project No.657-24-109JB, as required by drawings and specifications. The project includes, but is not limited to, general construction, alterations, mechanical, plumbing and electrical work, and certain other items necessary for completion and installation of new work. All work shall be performed in accordance with solicitation/contract terms and conditions, specifications and drawings, and all applicable VA and local codes.
