Xybix Workstations

The Minnesota Department of Public Safety (DPS) intends to prepare a contract with Xybix Systems, Inc. (Xybix) for 4 police dispatch workstations and associated installation services for the State Capitol Communications Center located in Saint Paul, MN. Dispatchers use these workstations to facilitate emergency communications in the area.

There are currently 13 Xybix workstations installed at the State Patrol Dispatch Center in Roseville, MN, and dispatchers move between the Roseville and State Capitol dispatch centers. In emergency communications, employees must make decisions quickly to help prevent injury, loss of life, and damage to property. Familiarity with the dispatch workstations is important to maintain efficiency. Thus, all workstations must be identical.

Xybix workstations are the only commercially reasonably available commodity products. This is deemed a single source purchase because Xybix workstations are solely distributed and supported by Xybix, and are not available from other third parties.
