Woods Ferry #6 Timber Sale

This sale is a 71-acre thinning consisting of three harvest types. Area 1 is an approximately 6-acre marked thinning of slash pine. The take trees are marked with blue paint at eye level. All blue trees are to be harvested and unmarked trees are to remain standing and unharmed. Area 2 is an approximately 55-acre marked thinning of longleaf pine. The leave trees are marked with orange paint at eye level. All unmarked trees are to be harvested and all marked trees are to remain standing and unharmed. Area 3 is an approximately 10-acre logger select thinning of longleaf pine. The thinning should mimic the thinning in Area 2 with the best trees allowed to continue growing onsite. Because of the longleaf pines poor growth, some of the trees to be harvested may not meet tree length or double bunk pulpwood specifications. Trees to be harvested that do not meet these merchantable specifications are to be cut and left onsite. The logging debris is to be distributed back through the stand.
