Winter Wonderland Ice Rink & Operation

The City of Reading (City) is seeking proposals from qualified individuals and/or consulting firms to supply to the City’s Purchasing Department .

The City of Reading is seeking proposals from qualified individuals and/or firms to supply a 60 x 100 ft natural ice skating rink and day-to-day professional management personnel for the City’s first outdoor Ice-Skating Rink. The City will be providing a 80 x 120 ft level concrete pad and 600 amps of electric in a 400 and 200 amp circuit alignment for equipment. The expected distance from rink to chilling units is not to exceed 100 ft.

All costs incurred by proposing firms are considered by the City to be marketing costs required in order to select a firm to perform this work, and the City will not be reimbursing for any costs incurred.

The City of Reading has for the last 2 years partnered with a local indoor arena to provide Ice Skating for the citizens in and around the City of Reading, PA. The event has been widely accepted and sessions were routinely booked to capacity. In efforts to expand the program and add a true winter feel to the event the City is seeking to move the event outdoors and create a complete winter wonderland atmosphere to include food and craft vendors and decorations. This RFP will seek the rink and main operational components of the ice rink in staffing and maintaining the rinks operational needs.
