WEST MAIN STREET UTILITIES PHASE 1 – GAS MAIN REPLACEMENT

The City of Charlottesville is requesting bids for IFB 26-83 for WEST MAIN STREET UTILITIES PHASE 1 – GAS MAIN REPLACEMENT .

Project Description:
The West Main Street Phase I Gas Main Replacement Project consists of the installation of approximately 4,320 linear feet of new gas mains, services, and associated appurtenances to
replace aging and undersized low-pressure (LP) gas infrastructure with a 90 PSIG distribution system. This infrastructure upgrade is intended to improve system reliability, safety, and operational performance within the West Main Street corridor and surrounding streets, including portions of:
• University Avenue
• Rugby Road
• Madison Lane
• Chancellor Street
The project area includes properties associated with the University of Virginia and adjacent residential, institutional, and mixed-use properties.

This project is a Federally funded PHMSA/DOT infrastructure project to replace cast iron natural gas main with 2-inch and 4-inch polyethylene (PL), 90# gas mains and other services and appurtenances per the bid items and attachments. As such, the project is subject to the domestic preference requirement in § 70914 of the Build America, Buy America Act, Pub. L. No. 117-58, div. G, tit. IX, subtit. A, 135 Stat. 429, 1298 (2021), which requires that all steel, iron, manufactured products, and construction materials used in the project be produced in the United States. The Recipient agrees to comply with this domestic preference requirement as implemented by applicable OMB, USDOT, and PHMSA guidance and regulations.
