Overview

Summary

The County of Solano, Department of General Services - Facilities Operations Division , hereinafter referred to as the "County", intends to secure a three-year contract with a qualified Proposer to provide Weed Abatement Services . This project focuses on reducing fire hazards by removing or minimizing flammable vegetation and maintaining clear, safe conditions across all properties listed in the solicitation. A combined approach of discing, mowing, herbicide treatments, and hand trimming shall be used to achieve these objectives while maintaining compliance with applicable fire codes and local ordinances.

Background

Weed abatement is an essential maintenance service that supports fire prevention, property safety, and regulatory compliance across Solano County. Due to the region’s dry climate and heightened seasonal fire risks, unmanaged vegetation can quickly become hazardous, impacting both property conditions and public safety. Regular weed abatement ensures that all sites remain clear of overgrowth, reducing fire fuel loads and maintaining a clean, professional appearance. Properties typically require three (3) weed abatement services per year, these services are typically scheduled around key growth cycles to stay ahead of seasonal vegetation patterns. By maintaining this annual rhythm, properties avoid rapid overgrowth, ensure compliance with local requirements, and reduce the likelihood of emergency vegetation removal during critical fire periods. With multiple locations in Solano County requiring service, a coordinated weed abatement plan ensures consistent maintenance standards across all sites. Regular services provide predictable budgeting, streamlined oversight, and enhanced safety for employees, visitors, and surrounding neighborhoods. This approach keeps every property properly maintained and aligned with county guidelines year‑round.
