The main goal of the San Antonio Water System (SAWS) WaterSaver Coupon Program is to encourage customers to reduce landscape irrigation and promote smart landscape design through prepackaged landscape projects.

SAWS’ Conservation Department shall develop packages consistent with the examples included in this CALL DOCUMENT. These packages generally consist of descriptions of acceptable materials to be purchased from participating companies. As specified per the coupon package, SAWS shall make available funds in the form of a coupon to qualifying customers. Participating companies shall accept the “coupon” issued by SAWS as cash, and then submit all coupons on a monthly basis to SAWS for reimbursement. The companies shall furnish a detailed copy of the sales receipt for every coupon they submit on a thirty-day billing cycle.

W-9 Upper Leon Creek

The project will address undersized mains, abandon poor condition pipeline segments, and relocate the

alignment in order to reduce sanitary sewer overflows in northwest San Antonio as part of work required

under the EPA Consent Decree. The project area is located along Leon Creek from 1 mile north of Bandera

Road to the confluence at Culebra Creek south of Grissom Road. The proposed improvements are aligned

along Leon Creek stream banks and the City of San Antonio (COSA) Leon Creek Greenway Park hike and bike

trails.

SAWS has performed extensive coordination with COSA Parks and evaluation of the project alignment in

order to minimize impact to COSA Parks Trails, Heritage trees and existing creeks. As a result of this

evaluation, it was determined to tunnel approximately 48% of the project length and open cut the rest to

minimize the clearing of trees while at the same time placing the new sewer system away from the creek bed

as much as possible therefore preventing future damage to the new system.

When Will Work Occur?

Construction is planned to commence in

March 2024. Estimated construction duration

is 720 days.

feet of 8-, 12- and 27-inch diameter

pipe

• Fiber Reinforced Sewer manholes
