Description

PROJECT: WA NP MORA 11(1), Fryingpan Creek Bridge

This solicitation is a "REQUEST FOR INFORMATION" only for the proposed contract work listed in the requirements section below. This Sources Sought Notice is not a request for formal proposals or quotes. Final plans and specifications are not available at this time. Responses to this Sources Sought must be received by email no later than the date specified in the response section. This intent of this sources sought is for market research to determine contractors with the necessary experience and resources capable of performing this work.

REQUIREMENT:

NAICS Code 237310, Highway, Street, and Bridge Construction apply to this procurement with a size standard of $45 million.

Project Location: 31 Miles North of Packwood, Pierce County, Washington

Estimated Price Range: $10,000,000 and $20,000,000

The purpose of the proposed project is to replace the deteriorated Fryingpan Creek Bridge to ensure the bridge provides a structurally sound, long-term, vehicular bridge crossing over Fryingpan Creek. The Fryingpan Creek Bridge, which is part of the 15-mile Sunrise Road, is vital to park operations, local economies, and visitor use and enjoyment. Sunrise Road serves as the sole vehicular access to the popular Sunrise area (the second busiest area in the park) and is a primary destination for visitors coming from the greater Seattle and Yakima metropolitan areas. Sunrise Road also provides access to the White River Campground and popular park wilderness trails, including the historically significant Wonderland Trail.

The project area is remote, and the construction season is relatively short with typical construction starting in June and ending in October.

The project includes construction of a single span, 218.5-foot long steel plate girder bridge with cast-in-place concrete deck. Abutments are founded on deep foundation (drilled shafts). The work includes demolition of the existing steel arch girder bridge upon completion of the new structure.

Project constraints may include:

  • Short in-water work window for the work needed

  • Threatened fish and bird species in the area creating short work windows.

  • This location is at a high elevation so the work window is even shorter than most projects of its kind

  • Custom stone work required

  • EXTREMELY tight work area

  • Needs to keep the road open for the most part

  • Material delivery will be a challenge

See Attachment for full requirement.
