Iowa State University of Science and Technology (ISU) is soliciting bids from
qualified Suppliers to provide various refurbished food processing equipment on
behalf of the Center for Crops Utilization Research:
1. Microthermics pasteurizer, homogenizer, and filling hood.
2. SPX Spray dryer
3. Small scale spray dryer
Suppliers should read all materials carefully and note the due date.
Suppliers must direct all questions and comments in reference to this RFQ to the University
Representative using the QUESTIONS tab via the ISUBID system.

Attach technical data sheet for each item being offered including all relevant technical specifications/performances for
all components offered. This shall include but is not limited to electricity (voltage, wattage, amps, etc.), compressed
air, water, natural gas, etc. Offers that do not include literature as requested may be considered non-compliant based
on an inability to properly evaluate Supplier offer.

Bid Attributes
1 EVALUATION CRITERIA
The evaluation criteria utilized for this RFP may be based upon, but not limited to the following criteria:
Provide, install, start-up, commission, and train ISU users
Delivery Schedule
F.O.B. method
Ability to meet or exceed specifications
Responsiveness to ISU Terms and Conditions
Total cost to ISU
Warranty coverage
Service and/or maintenance availability
ISU reserves the right to waive minor differences in the stated specifications, if equipment offered is found to be
substantially compliant, and its’ purchase would be in the University’s best interest. ISU reserves the right to award
to a single vendor or multiple vendors.

2 INTENDED RESEARCH AND TEACHING APPLICATION
The refurbished equipment will be used in a pilot scale fermentation facility in the Center for Crops
Utilization Research at Food Science Building pilot plant, and the equipment will be used to support the
fermentation project in various stages as follows:
1. The pasteurizer, homogenizer, and filling hood will be used to for egg processing.
2. The SPX spray dryer will be used for various pilot scale liquid to powder applications.
3. The mobile, small scale spray dryer will be used for small batch liquid to powder applications.
3 SPECIFICATIONS
Specifications that describe the type and functionality of the desired equipment can be found in the LINES tab.
Suppliers may bid on one or any variation of equipment in the LINES tab.
Select "No Bid" for items not bidding.
Suppliers may submit offers for equipment that is similar in size and functionality to the equipment described
in this RFQ. Equipment offered is not expected to match any specific brand name that may be mentioned in
the RFQ but offers are expected to close what is described.

4 BRAND NAME OR EQUIVALENT
The use of brand name or equal specifications is for the purpose of describing the standard of quality, performance
and characteristics desired and is not intended to limit or restrict competition. Specifications are given as guidelines
only; Alternate equipment(s) may vary slightly from given specifications. Alternate units are expected to be close in
specifications to desired unit.

5 DECOMMISSIONING OF REFURBISHED/USED EQUIPMENT
If applicable, Supplier agrees to Federal and local state laws for decommissioning of equipment, including but not
limited to biohazard and chemical hazard decontamination, and providing written documentation that the equipment
was decommissioned by a certified technician prior to delivery/pick-up.
