Valve Maintenance, Related Services & Supplies Contract

The City of Ames is accepting bids from qualified vendors for a Service Contract for maintenance, repair, and replacement of valves and related services and supplies for the Ames Electric Services Power Plant located at 200 E 5th Street, Ames, IA. This request will be used to establish contract pricing for the period date of award through June 30, 2027, with the option to renew for four (4) one-year extensions through June 30, 2031.

Rates provide will remain firm each year. The budgeted amount of work for FY26/27 is $45,000 and in no way commits the City to purchase a specific amount each year.

Award of the contract will be based on vendor's previous experience in performing similar work, qualifications of the vendor and those who would be assigned to the City contract, favorable response from vendor's references, cost of the hourly labor rates, material markup, travel and subsistence, and vendor's access to equipment that would normally be utilized by the vendor to perform the maintenance, repair, and replacement of valves and related services.

All responses must be submitted before the deadline. Late bids responses will not be considered.

The City of Ames reserves the right to defer acceptance of any bid for a period not to exceed sixty (60) days after receipt of bids and no bid may be withdrawn during this period.

The successful bidder shall be required to furnish a corporate surety bond in an amount equal to one hundred percent (100%) of its contract price. Said bond to be issued by a responsible surety approved by the City Council and shall guarantee the faithful performance of the contract and the terms and conditions therein contained and shall guarantee the prompt payment of all material and labor, and protect and save harmless the City from claims and damages of any kind caused by the operations of the contract and shall also guarantee the maintenance of the improvement in good repair for a period of one (1) year from and after the completion and acceptance by the City.

Bidders are advised that most goods and services purchased for the Electric Services Department are subject to State of Iowa sales taxes. Freight and some services are exempt form these taxes.

The City of Ames reserves the right to reject any or all bids, to waive informalities, and enter into such contract, or contracts, as it shall deem to be in the best interest of the City.
