Scope:
Geriatrics and Extended Care – Recreation Therapy and Creative Arts Therapy (RCAT) Division at the VA Pittsburgh Healthcare System (VAPHS) is requesting two (2) handcycles and one (1) recumbent bicycle for both inpatient and outpatient adaptive cycling programs. These bikes will be used to open a new recreational innovative adaptive biking program working on physical endurance, stability, sitting tolerance, injury recovery, etc. to increase mobility, therapy, exercise, socialization with others and veteran’s self-esteem.
General Requirements:
- The characteristics set forth in this proposal are the minimum performance characteristics and should not be construed as limiting the overall quality, quantity, or performance of the instrument.
- The offerer is required to meet or exceed the minimum characteristics and will need to provide adequate documents to illustrate the performance capabilities of the offered products.

- Three-wheel, recumbent bicycle for trail use
- Foldable frame
- Foot pedaled
- Low center of gravity for stability
- Weight capacity up to 400 lbs
- Responsive steering and handling
- Similar the Catrike Trail recumbent bicycle for reference
- Bike #2

- Three-wheel, upright bicycle for trail use
- Hand pedaled
- Sliding adjustable seat for easy transfer and fittings to accommodate the maximum number of Veteran riders.
- Weight capacity up to 350 lbs
- Similar to the Excelerator Handcycle for reference

- Upright, trunk-powered riding position
- Hand pedaled
- Center-Frame layout to facilitate rider transfers
- Highly and easily adjustable seating and positioning system
- Steering dampener
- Similar to the Force G Handcycle for reference
