The model architectures, training pipeline, and methods behind the sizing and behavior
models are proprietary to MarineSitu. The deliverable is a set of models tuned for shrimp at
this site. The tuned models operate within the licensed Mangrove and SaltySuite(TM) software.
The industrial control computer and shipping case are commercially available and not
exclusive to MarineSitu. MarineSitu specifies and supplies the control computer because
Mangrove and the models are validated against it. MarineSitu does not require a particular
manufacturer, provided the specifications are met, though it cannot guarantee that an
alternative would run as expected without additional integration work.
2. Whether MarineSitu is the sole provider or authorized source
MarineSitu is the sole provider and only authorized source for the Mangrove software, the
SaltySuite(TM) platform, and the tuned models delivered under line items 9 and 10. The
specific C3 camera SKU quoted in line item 1 is also available only from MarineSitu and is

not sold through any other channel. A di(cid:431)erent SKU of the C3 is distributed by Blue
Robotics, meant for ROV integration.
3. Whether the platform requires the C3 camera or other MarineSitu technology
Mangrove and SaltySuite(TM) do not require the C3. Both support a range of cameras,
including cameras below C3 specifications. The constraint for this project comes from the
models rather than the platform. The sizing and behavior models proposed here require a
camera comparable to the C3: a trifocal underwater camera with three synchronized
sensors in a single underwater housing, equivalent optical performance, and compatible
subsea cabling.
The keypoint-based sizing model is calibrated against the optical geometry of the camera it
is tuned on. Substituting a camera with di(cid:431)erent optics or baseline geometry would require
retuning the sizing model, and integrating a non-C3 camera with Mangrove would require
further development by MarineSitu, both adding cost and time. MarineSitu recommends
the C3 for this deployment because it is already integrated and validated with the platform,
and because the sizing model depends on its optics.
4. Limitations that would prevent another vendor from providing an equivalent
solution
Mangrove and SaltySuite(TM) are closed-source products developed and owned by
MarineSitu. No license is available from another vendor to deliver, host, modify, or resell
them. The sizing and behavior model architectures are proprietary to MarineSitu and are
not licensed to third parties. The tuned models produced under this project are delivered
and run within Mangrove. SaltySuite(TM) is the platform built to store and review the system's
imagery and detection records.
MarineSitu's object detection capability is built on a commercial framework licensed from
a third party.
The elements of the proposed system available only from MarineSitu are the Mangrove
software, the SaltySuite(TM) platform, the sizing and behavior models, and the C3-PoE camera
quoted in line item 1. A vendor proposing an alternative would have to supply its own
software, cloud platform, and models.
