1. SCOPE
1.1 Intent. This work item describes the requirements for the Contractor to inspect and perform shaft repalement on bow thruster units for the 120 class barges.
1.2 Government-furnished property.

3. REQUIREMENTS
3.1 Interferences. The Contractor must handle all interferences in accordance with SFLC Std Spec 0000, paragraph 3.3.5 (Interferences). Known interferences include, but are not limited to the following:
- Gear case disassembly
- Remove Propeller shaft
NOTE
Coast Guard personnel will remove the gearcase and shaft assembly from the thruster unit and deliver to contractor as well as new shaft and propeller.
The Contractor must perform the following maintenance requirements to the thruster units in accordance with Coast Guard Technical Publication (TP) 3385 and CG DWG 120-BARGE 568-1.
3.2. Disassembly and inspection. Disconnect and inspect the following bow thruster components for damage, wear, and reuse suitability and submit a CFR:
- Gear case
- Propeller shaft bearing
- Propeller shaft
3.3.2 Government’s right for change out. The Contractor must be aware that the Government reserves the right to furnish a new propeller shaft for installation in place of the existing propeller shaft. If the Government exercises this right, the Contractor must return the removed propeller shaft to the Coast Guard PE as an MTI item.
3.5 Assembly. The Contractor must replace Propeller shaft with replacement that will be provided, in procure or fabricate the associated hardware to attach the propeller to the shaft. Which includes but not limited to, propeller nut, nose cone, key stock mounting hardware.
