Section 1. Procurement Overview
Project Title: Integrated Medical Stent Fabricating Braiding System (Dual-Capability 48/64 Carrier Platform)
Issuing Department
University of California, Riverside - D01285
Installation Location
MSE Building Room 273B 900 University Avenue Riverside, CA 92521
Procurement Objective
The equipment purchase should reflect UC Riverside's commitment to research integrity, collaboration, innovation and sustainability. The Supplier will ensure the working relationship embodies these values, and supports the goals of the University, working in alignment with UCR's Mission and Values.
UCR seeks an integrated medical stent braiding system capable of supporting both 48-carrier and 64-carrier braiding operations within a single equipment platform.
UCR's objective is to obtain a flexible research and manufacturing system capable of supporting:
Development of braided intravascular/endovascular devices (e.g., flow diverters, cardiovascular stents, ballon-expandable stents, etc.)
Processing with a variety of materials (e.g., nitinol-titanium alloys, cobalt-chromium alloys, tantalum alloys, stainless steel, polymers, etc.)
Future research scalability
The proposed system must meet all technical, operational, facility, installation, training, and validation requirements outlined in this solicitation.
Section 2. Critical Procurement Requirements
The required capabilities of this machine and vendor responsibilities are:
Horizontal 64- and 48- carrier system
Includes multiple sets of tension (ranging from 0.30 mm to 0.80 mm) and ratchet (ranging from 0.30 mm to 0.60 mm) springs allowing for a variety of different metallic materials (e.g., nitinol-titanium alloys, cobalt-chromium alloys, tantalum alloys, stainless steel, etc.) and fine wire diameters (ranging from 25 to 200 micrometers, m) to be used with the same braiding system
Braids at a variety of different PPI: Picks per Inch (1 - 300+)
Exchangeable braiding mandrils (2mm - 5.5mm diameters)
Includes a bobbin winder for automized wire spooling
Wire break detection
Incorporated camera to collect braid features during manufacturing
Software to analyze different braid and manufacturing features (pick count, segments, braid patterns, speed, etc.)
Preferably does not have any compressed air requirements
Comply with the 125 PSF (pounds per square footage plan space) building requirement: including the entire system and/or each of the separate components of the braiding system (mandatory); 125 PSF is approximately equal to 610.30 kg/m2
Electrical requirements not exceed 3 phase 208 V (60 Hz), 30 Amp (mandatory)
Fit into a Wmax x Lmax of 72" x 112" planar space during push braiding (functioning process); approximately equivalent to 1,829 mm x 2,845 mm (mandatory)
Online/in person training sessions during the first year
1-year parts and labor warranty
1 year of technical support
Be packaged in pallets/crates that fit through the freight elevator and lab door with a Wmax x Lmax of 51" by 81" (during transportation of the equipment into Dr. Lee's lab in MSE Building Room 273B); approximately equivalent to 1,295 mm x 2,057 mm (mandatory)
Coordinate shipping and installation; note that the MSE Building does not have a loading dock so a heavy-duty truck liftgate, a scissor dock lift, etc. would be needed to unload the pallets to the ground; also, it would be needed the vendor works with Dr. Lee to arrange the logistics to move the pallets into the MSE Building and then to Dr. Lee's lab in MSE 273B. (mandatory)
Overall lead time of 25 weeks upon receipt of PO (preferably)
