PRE-SOLICITATION NOTICE
The Mental Health Care Line Department at the Michael E. DeBakey VA Medical Center, located at 2002 Holcombe Blvd., Houston, TX 77030 has a requirement for Yoga Therapy.
The contractor shall provide yoga therapy to patient populations of Veterans at the Michael E. DeBakey VA Medical Center (MEDVAMC). Contractor s personnel shall perform services via video teleconference (VTC). Contractor shall provide all access to the necessary resources to accomplish two-way, interactive, virtual platforms to offer online classes and individual sessions of live yoga therapy.
Yoga Therapist: Yoga therapists shall be certified through a program accredited by the International Association of Yoga Therapists (IAYT). IAYT yoga therapists obtain comprehensive training across a variety of medical contexts including diabetes, heart disease, trauma, pain, and prenatal care. The Yoga Therapist shall utilize this specialized knowledge to provide yoga therapy that is supportive of, and sensitive to, the clinical needs of the following patient populations.
Veterans with Headaches. Yoga therapy (YT) shall be performed in accordance with the standards of IAYT for Veterans with chronic headaches as part of the Integrative Headache Clinic (IHC) in Neurology.
Yoga therapist shall be available for 16 hours per week (8 hours each on two separate days) of direct patient contact, documentation, and/or consultation for yoga therapy with individual Veterans within the IHC between the hours of 8:00 am and 8:00 pm CT. Each session shall consist of a maximum of 50 minutes of one-on-one yoga therapy, including education on benefits of yoga for headache, and instruction in yoga practices specific to the needs of the individual Veteran. The therapist shall complete documentation of visits in the VA electronic medical records and shall be available for brief consultation with members of the headache clinic team by Teams virtual meeting or encrypted email to ensure smooth coordination of Veteran care.
Pregnant Veterans. Prenatal yoga therapy shall be performed in accordance with the standards of the IAYT for pregnant Veterans as part of the Whole Health Maternity Care program. Specific duties include:
Yoga therapist shall provide 3 virtual sessions of prenatal YT for individual Veterans per week between the hours of 8:00 am and 8:00 pm CT. Each session shall consist of a maximum of 50 minutes of one-on-one yoga therapy, including education on benefits of yoga for pregnancy and instruction in yoga practices specific to the needs of the individual Veteran.
Yoga therapist shall lead 1 virtual prenatal yoga class in support of Veterans engaged in individual prenatal YT, and also for other pregnant Veterans at MEDVAMC. Classes shall be held on weekday evenings no later than 7:00 pm CT, or on weekends between 8:00 am CT and 5:00 pm CT. Classes shall be appropriate to the trimester of the Veterans attending (or appropriate for all trimesters if Veterans in each trimester are in attendance).
The contract is expected to be firm, fixed-price for one 12-month base period and four 12-month option periods.
This is a pre-solicitation notice only. Interested parties should watch for the issuance of the solicitation and associated documents on or about May 8, 2024 which will contain the specific instructions and requirements.
The solicitation will be issued as a Small Business (SB) set-aside under NAICS code 611699, with a small business size standard of $16.5 Million. All interested parties must be listed in the System for Award Management (SAM) at https://www.sam.gov, at the date and time of their quote submission, and date of award. Award will NOT be delayed for registration.
