SYNOPSIS - NOTICE OF INTENT TO SOLE SOURCE. This synopsis is hereby issued in accordance with FAR Part 5.203 in response to the mandatory requirement for a 15-day notification. The purpose of this synopsis is to announce the Naval Air Warfare Command ? Aircraft Division (NAWC-AD) intends to issue a Sole Source contract to CALSPAN LLC 4455 GENESEE STREET BUFFALO, NY 14225. Interested parties should contact Calspan for subcontracting opportunities.REQUIREMENTS:Per the Statement of Work (SOW), this contract will result in the procurement of flight demonstration program support, to include classroom instruction, utilizing a contractor-owned Variable Stability System (VSS) aircraft for U.S. Naval Test Pilot School students under instruction.The anticipated acquisition will be a Firm-Fixed Price (FFP), Five-year contract (1 base year with 4 one-year options).This notice is published for informational purposes only and is not a request for quotes or request for information. A determination by the Government not to compete this procurement is solely within the discretion of the Government and is based on an approval to utilize the authority under FAR 8.405-6(b).This acquisition is being pursued on a sole source basis under the statutory authority of Title 10, U.S.C. Section 2304(c) (1), as implemented by Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR) 6.302-1, ?Only one responsible source and no other supplies or services will satisfy agency requirements.? A determination by the Government not to compete this effort is solely within the discretion of the Government.
