Title: Transportation Services for Children and Family Services Clients
Addenda: 0
Release Date: 10/21/2024
Due Date: 11/18/2024
The mission of the Human Services Agency (HSA) is to enhance the well-being of children, adults, and families by providing professional, responsive, caring, and supportive services. Children and Family Services (CFS), a branch within the HSA, protects the welfare of children, improves the lifelong stability of children and youth, and improves the health and strength of families. CFS is seeking proposals from qualified agencies to provide essential, safe, and dependable transportation services crucial to supporting families within our community. If an agreement is awarded, it will provide transportation to both parents and children with a particular focus on out-of-county trips. In addition, the awardee would provide fee-for-service transportation for parents to and from designated cities as well as provide safe transit of children for out-of-county trips. We invite proposals from agencies committed to upholding the highest standards of safety, reliability, and customer care, aligning closely with our mission to support families and enhance their access to essential services.
CFS recognizes that reliable transportation is crucial for maintaining and enhancing parent-child relationships, especially during periods of separation. By facilitating essential trips for court hearings, visitations, and medical appointments, CFS aims to support family reunification and ensure that both parents and children can access critical services and maintain connections. Our goal is to provide a secure and dependable transportation solution that upholds the well-being of children and supports the overall stability and strength of family relationships.
From January to April 2024, CFS data shows significant demand for transportation services. For children, our data indicates a total of 37 out-of-county trips with an average distance of 97 miles to destinations such as Dixon, Modesto, Selma, Berkeley, Granite Bay, and Vacaville from San Mateo County . These trips primarily served young children and adolescents aged six to 18 years. Additionally, parent transportation services have been in high demand, with a total of 74 requested trips for court hearings, visitations, medical appointments, and other vital visits during the same period. These services are integral to supporting the complex needs of our community members, ensuring they can access necessary resources and appointments without logistical barriers.
