Translation and Interpretation Services

SCO Family of Services (SCO) is a nonprofit organization dedicated to improving the lives of children, adults, and families in need. Our mission is to provide comprehensive support and services through programs that ensure growth and development. Our services include a wide range of supportive areas in education, housing, health, youth services and more. Health services are especially crucial for our clients, and we work diligently to ensure they have the resources and support needed to lead healthier lives.

We recognize the critical importance of supporting non-native English speakers to ensure they benefit from our programs. We have broken language barriers by providing community support, which has played a key role in cultivating confidence and creating new opportunities for those we serve.?Our program's locations are based on Long Island and New York City and due to the diverse linguistic backgrounds of the clientele we serve, in compliance with New York State (NYS) Law, we are committed to providing translation and interpretation services in the top 12 most commonly spoken non-English languages in the state: Spanish, Chinese, Russian, Yiddish, Bangla, Korean, Haitian Creole, Italian, Arabic, Polish, French, and Urdu. Among these, the most requested languages for our services are Spanish, French, Haitian Creole, Arabic, Russian, Chinese (Mandarin), and Chinese (Cantonese).

The table below presents the 2024 usage data for Components 2-4 for Video, Over-the-Phone, and In-person Interpretation services. We were unable to retrieve data for Component 1: Document Translation, as this service has not been frequently requested in 2024, however, we still require these services at a moderate capacity.

To continuously strengthen our ability to provide these essential services, we are actively seeking qualified vendors for translation and interpretation services. This entails document translation, as well as in-person, video, and telephone interpretation, allowing us to continue breaking down language barriers and provide essential health and supportive services to those we serve.?

All proposers must be able to provide all four (4) components herein, as detailed in Section 4 of the RFP.

SCO is seeking to secure a qualified vendor for Translation and Interpretation Services under one (1), one (1) year contract, with an option to extend for an additional two (2), one (1) year terms. The services are divided into four components:

• Component 1: Document Translation
• Component 2: Video Interpretation
• Component 3: Over-the-Phone Interpretation
• Component 4: In-person Interpretation

We anticipate awarding one (1) vendor capable of fulfilling the service requirements outlined in all four components. Services are to commence on July 1, 2025.
