Overview
Summary

The City is seeking quotes from qualified vendors to provide training/testing for up to thirty (30) City employees in 2026 who desire to obtain a CDL A (restricted or unrestricted) or B license. Selected vendor must be able to have a training and testing site in Pinellas County preferably with their own vehicles and/or establish a training and testing site onsite. In the event the vendor does not have their own vehicles, the City will provide transportation for its staff being trained. The City will work with the vendor to determine the onsite location as this may vary based on department needs (i.e. Storm Water, Sanitation, Water Resources).

Background

The City of St. Petersburg's Mayor's Future Ready Academy aims to connect St. Pete individuals with employment opportunities and prepare them for long-term career success. The program provides individuals with on-the-job training and supplementary classroom instruction to help prepare them for essential employment opportunities within the City of St. Petersburg.

The Academy Cadets will have the opportunity to work alongside and learn from employees in many departments throughout the city. Along with employment, participants will also learn skills including professionalism, becoming a good team member, and resume development. Cadets will rotate through four City departments (Parks and Recreation, Sanitation, Stormwater, Pavement, Traffic Operations, and Water Resources) and have the opportunity to obtain a CDL license through this program.

Due to this program running twice per fiscal year, the dates for the CDL training and testing will be known in advance, but flexibility is always a plus.
