Town of Whitecourt
The Town of Whitecourt, located in Alberta, Canada, a community of just under 10,000 residents, with a surrounding population of an addition 2,500 people, and a trading area of over 50,000 people, is a growing, dynamic community located 180km northwest of Edmonton, Alberta.

The Canfor Culture & Events Centre, rising in the heart of Whitecourt, represents the Town’s transformation of the community’s cultural, artistic, and administrative landscape. Situated at the entrance to Festival Park in downtown Whitecourt, The Centre is a statement of the Town’s commitment to arts, culture, community programming, and economic growth. The facility’s design brings together several key functions under one roof. At its core, it is a versatile arts, culture, and convention space that can also be converted into a theatre. It is capable of hosting dance festivals, concerts, conferences, weddings, touring productions, sporting events, and community events. It is being outfitted with professional-grade equipment and technology in both the kitchen and coffee lease spaces, and multi-purpose space, including lighting, sound, rigging, professional-grade equipment, and a flexible theatre configuration to support everything from local performances to large touring shows. In addition to the performance and event spaces, the Centre will house an accessible, modern library, replacing the current facility. The coffee shop and outdoor gathering space located within the Library will offer an inviting place to meet. The Town Administration Office and Council Chambers will relocate here, centralizing many civic functions. An outdoor festival space that connects with Festival Park will host many festivals and events throughout the year. Currently, the facility is currently 80% complete, and is slated to open in fall 2026. The Canfor Culture & Events Centre will serve as a hub for gatherings, performances, learning, and civic pride.

Whitecourt is proud to be the home of the Canfor Culture & Events Centre. With the grand opening of the facility happening in a few months’ time, it is timely to announce the Request for Proposals for audiovisual equipment.
