Toombs Street Pedestrian Improvements

Sealed bids will be received by the City of Valdosta at the office of the City Engineer, City Hall Annex Building, 300 N. Lee Street, Valdosta, Georgia, 31601 until 10:00 AM, Local Time, Thursday, November 1, 2021 for the construction of pedestrian improvements on S. Toombs Street, between Martin Luther King Street and Old Clyattville Road, in the City of Valdosta at which time and place they will be publicly opened and read aloud.

The work consists of installing new sidewalk, handicap ramps, and minimal storm drainage, remove & replace driveways, traffic control, grassing, erosion control and other related work.

No bid may be withdrawn for a period of thirty (30) days after the scheduled time for receiving the bids.

Bids must be accompanied by a signed and notarized non collusive affidavit as well as a signed and notarized Georgia Security & Immigration Compliance affidavit.

Bids must be accompanied by a certified check or bid bond in an amount of not less than five (5) percent of the amount bid. A Contract Performance Bond and Payment Bond equal to one hundred (100) percent of the contract price will be required. If bid price is $25,000.00 or less no bonds are required.

A mandatory Pre-Bid meeting will be held on Wednesday, October 20 2021, at 10:00 AM at the Engineering Department office small conference room. No one will be allowed to sign in after 10:00 AM.

The successful bidder, being responsible as well as responsive, shall commence work with an adequate force and equipment on a date specified in a written order of the City Engineer and complete the work within the time specified under the Special Provisions section of these specifications.

The City of Valdosta reserves the right to reject any or all bids, to waive informalities and to readvertise.

bidder, proposes to enter into a contract with the City of Valdosta to furnish all equipment,
labor and materials to perform the work stipulated herein, and as shown in the
specifications and on the plans and within the times or periods herein stated.
The bidder has carefully examined and fully understands the contract, plans,
specifications and other documents hereto attached and has made a personal
examination of the site of the proposed work and hereby agrees that if his proposal is
accepted he will contract with the City of Valdosta in compliance with the specifications.
