Grass Seed, Fertilizer & Infield Conditioner Specifications
Scope:
1. The purpose of this seed, fertilizer, infield conditioner and other turf products bid is to provide the City of
Worcester the opportunity to create an agronomic plan that fits the needs of each individual park, athletic field,
cemetery, and other sites including memorials and landscaped islands. This bid will allow the City of Worcester
to follow its IPM practices along with the flexibility to keep up with the ever-changing soil, weather, plant
diseases, weed growth, and insects that effect our facilities.
2. This bid shall be from award until December 31, 2024, with agreed upon renewals as follows:
First renewal January 1, 2025, to December 31, 2025
Second renewal January 1, 2026, to December 31, 2026
Specifications:
1. This specification describes the types and the mixtures of seed that will be used on the Department of Public
Works and Parks, Parks, Recreation and Cemetery Division: Parks, athletic fields & cemetery and other sites
including memorials and landscaped islands.
3. The City of Worcester Department of Public Works and Parks, Parks, Recreation, & Cemetery Division is
requesting numerous types of seed for use on these facilities.
4. The City of Worcester Department of Public Works and Parks, Parks, Recreation and Cemetery Division is
requesting numerous types of fertilizer for use on these facilities.
5. The City of Worcester Department of Public Works and Parks, Parks, Recreation and Cemetery Division is
requesting numerous types of insecticide and fungicide for use on these facilities.
6. The City of Worcester Department of Public Works and Parks, Parks, Recreation and Cemetery Division is
requesting numerous types of infield conditioners for use on these facilities.

Seed Type #1
SEED BID
The following combination of seed is required for each pound for Seed Type #1:
50% Perennial Ryegrass, type to be considered include Gray Hawk perennial Rye or equal.
50% Premium Kentucky Bluegrass, type to be considered include Full Moon Kentucky Bluegrass
or equal.
Weed and crop seed must be less then 1% of total mixture per bag.
Inert matter must be less than 1% of total mixture per bag.
Each seed bag shall be well mixed to ensure proper distribution of each type of seed.
Germination rate for all grass seed must be equal to or above 90%.
Each seed bag shall be from the current crop with date no older then 6 months.
Each seed bag shall have certificates and be marked stating contents and mixture.
Seed Type #2
This shall be a Rye & Kentucky Blue blend with the following combination of seed is required for each
pound for Seed Type #2
80% Perennial Ryegrass
40% Perennial Ryegrass, types to be considered include Silver Sun or equal.
40% Perennial Ryegrass, types to be considered include Gray Wolf or equal.
20% Kentucky Bluegrass
20% Kentucky Bluegrass, type to be considered include Full Moon or equal.
Weed and crop seed must be less then 1% of total mixture per bag.
Inert matter must be less than 1% of total mixture per bag.
Each seed bag shall be well mixed to ensure proper distribution of each type of seed.
Germination rate for all grass seed must be equal to or above 90%.
Each seed bag shall be from the current crop with date no older then 6 months.
Each seed bag shall have certificates and be marked stating contents and mixture.

Seed Type #3
This shall be a three-way Rye blend with the following combination of seed is required for each pound
for Seed Type #3
100% Perennial Ryegrass, types to be considered include Certified Commander, Assure Perennial
Ryegrass or equal.
Weed and crop seed must be less then 1% of total mixture per bag.
Inert matter must be less than 1% of total mixture per bag.
Each seed bag shall be well mixed to ensure proper distribution of each type of seed.
Germination rate for all grass seed must be equal to or above 90%.
Each seed bag shall be from the current crop with date no older then 6 months.
Each seed bag shall have certificates and be marked stating contents and mixture.
Seed Type #4
This shall be a performance see mix blend with the following combination of seed is required for each
pound for Seed Type #4
60% Tall Fescue
30% Tall Fescue, type to be considered include Saltillo or equal.
30% Tall Fescue, type to be considered include Rain Dance or equal
30% Perennial Ryegrass, types to be considered include Gray Hawk or equal.
10% Kentucky Bluegrass, type to be considered include Jumpstart or equal.
Weed and crop seed must be less then 1% of total mixture per bag.
Inert matter must be less than 1% of total mixture per bag.
Each seed bag shall be well mixed to ensure proper distribution of each type of seed.
Germination rate for all grass seed must be equal to or above 90%.
Each seed bag shall be from the current crop with date no older then 6 months.
Each seed bag shall have certificates and be marked stating contents and mixture.

* Worcester Department of Public Works and Parks, Parks, Recreation, & Cemetery Division reserves the right
to decrease or increase the amounts purchased depending on the need of the Department.
Actual amounts purchased may vary depending on the need of the Department.
Total amount of seed requested for the purpose of this bid is estimated to be 56,000 pounds. This is not a firm
quantity; amounts may vary and will be purchased on an as needed basis.

Shipments over twenty (20) fifty (50) pound bags will be delivered within two weeks of the order date.
All others shall be delivered within three business days of order.
The specific mixture must be quoted in writing along with the cost per fifty-pound bag and a total cost.
The cost of this product is to include delivery to the Department of Public Works and Parks, Parks, Recreation
and Cemetery Division Administration office or alternative site with-in the City of Worcester.

FERTILIZER
The total fertilizer amount to be delivered is estimated at 60,000 pounds in fifty (50) pound increments in
total and will be purchased on an as needed basis.
The total liquid fertilizer amount to be delivered is estimated at 50 gallons in 64 ounce, one, two or two &
half gallon containers in total and will be purchased on an as needed basis.
The total insecticide amount to be delivered is estimated at 10,000 pounds in forty (40) pound increments in
total and will be purchased on an as needed basis.
The total fungicide amount to be delivered is estimated at 10,000 pounds in forty (40) pound increments in
total and will be purchased on an as needed basis.
The total infield conditioner amount to be delivered is estimated at 30,000 pounds in forty (50) pound
increments & 800 Bricks in 8/packs in total and will be purchased on an as needed basis.

to decrease or increase these amounts depending on the need of the Department.
