Timber Sale Spruce Mountain Timber Sale (Revenue Contract)

The College is soliciting bids from responsible buyers for harvest of timber located on Pack Demonstration Forest, Warrensburg, NY (Warren County). Approximately 89 acres of timber is to be harvested (see attached for timber inventory details, location map, etc.). The harvest area is accessed from State Route 9, Warrensburg, NY 12885. Harvest Blocks 2, 3, 4 and 5 can only be accessed during May through October. Blocks 1 and 6 can be accessed at any time when ground conditions are conducive to harvesting.
Within blocks 1, 2, 3 and 4 all trees are to be cut except those marked with orange paint, this includes all beech trees down to 1” DBH in size. Within block 4 all trees marked with blue paint must be cut, all beech trees down to 1” DBH must be cut as well. Within block 6 all trees marked with blue paint must be cut.
Approximately 2,440 feet of the Pack Forest Entrance Road, must be upgraded. This upgrade must include the addition of Item 4 with a minimum depth of 8” of material spanning a width of 20 feet for a length of 2,440 feet, as shown on attached map and marked on the ground with two blue flags indicating the beginning and end points of said work. Within this section of road, following completion of adding all needed material the roadway must be graded and crowned. Within the harvest area, one (1) existing culvert on an existing trail must be replaced with a new 12” diameter culvert. All culverts that will be installed must be plastic, any culvert installed on a forest road must be topped with a minimum of 12” of material. All upgrades must meet New York State Best Management Practices for Water Quality (BMP’s). All road upgrades discussed above must be completed prior to beginning any harvesting of a fifth harvest block – once four harvest blocks are complete all road upgrades described above must be completed to the satisfaction of SUNY ESF.
