Timber Sale Hemlock Management Area Timber Sale (Revenue Contract)

The College is soliciting bids from responsible buyers for harvest of timber located on Pack Demonstration Forest, Warrensburg, NY (Warren County). Approximately 98 acres of timber is to be harvested (see attached for timber inventory details, location map, etc.). The harvest area is accessed from State Route 28, Warrensburg, NY 12885. Access is only permitted between September through May during frozen or dry conditions; no harvesting can occur during summer months.

Approximately 1,060 feet of the Pack Forest Entrance Road, must be upgraded. This upgrade must include the addition of Item 4 with a minimum depth of 8” of material spanning a width of 20 feet for an approximate length of 1,060 feet, as shown on attached map and marked on the ground with two blue flags indicating the beginning and end points of said work. Within this section of road, following completion of adding all needed material the roadway must be graded and crowned. Additional upgrades required to other forest roads are identified on the attached map and on the ground with pink paint. These upgrades include the addition of seven (7) new culverts 18” in diameter; replacing one (1) existing culvert with a new 18” diameter culvert; replacing one (1) existing culvert with a new 24” diameter culvert; and the installation of one load of stone (approx. 14 cubic yards). All culverts that will be installed must be plastic and topped with a minimum of 12” of material. All upgrades must meet New York State Best Management Practices for Water Quality (BMP’s). All road upgrades discussed above must be completed prior to beginning any harvesting of a third harvest area - once two harvest areas are complete the final one cannot be accessed until all road upgrades described above are complete to the satisfaction of SUNY ESF.
