Title: Temporary Medical Respite Program
Addenda: 0
Release Date: 5/30/2025
Due Date: 7/1/2025
Pierce County seeks to gauge interest from eligible and qualified providers in implementing a Medical Respite program for low- to moderate-income individuals experiencing homelessness in Pierce County. The services would be delivered in a Pierce County-owned building located in Parkland, utilizing a low- or no-cost lease agreement, and would be for an initial period of three to five years, with potential for renewal based on County needs.
Additionally, Pierce County is hoping to gather insights on how providers would structure and execute such a project to meet the community's needs for improved access to medical respite care.
Pierce County (County) owns a building in Parkland that was previously used as a 16-bed crisis facility, zoned as Level 2, which permits health services such as behavioral health and respite services. The County is considering options for a lease of its building and is particularly interested in responses that outline how providers would deliver services, including covering some or all operating costs through fee-for-service or insurance or third-party billing. The building’s use is intended to be temporary 1 , serving as an interim solution to address immediate respite needs while long-term strategies are explored.
