T-158 Track Pad Mold Set
For Red River Army Depot (RRAD)
- General: This purchase description defines the requirements for the design, fabrication, and delivery of two (2) each T-158LL four (4) cavity track pad injection molds and one (1) each cold runner for use by RRAD Rubber Products Branch.
- Technical Specifications: The mold set and cold runner shall be designed to operate with a Desma model D 968.400 ZO 400 ton double shuttle injection press at RRAD Rubber Products Branch building 493. The Government has included drawings 12348368 Revision G, 12348367 Revision J, 12348378 Revision C, and 12257241 Revision G to use as a design guide. The completed molds shall produce rubberized track pads in accordance with the dimensional and technical specifications identified on the drawings. The minimum requirements and quantities for the molds and cold runner are as follows:

- Two (2) each complete four (4) cavity injection molds designed to produce rubberized track pads that comply with the dimensional and technical requirements of drawing 12348368 Revision G.
- Molds shall be designed to operate with a Desma model D 968.400 ZO 400 ton double shuttle injection press currently in use by RRAD.
- Mold dimensions: 670mm x 780mm
- Mold plate material shall be 4140 steel
- Cavities cut in plate
- Integrated ejector plate for part ejection
- Tab gate into edge of pad
- Vacuum and tear trims
- Six (6) heaters per mold plate
- Molds shall allow the use of a changeable commercially available date code insert for the application of date information (Plastixs, DME, or similar). The date insert shall be placed in an area as secure as possible from field inflicted damage.
- The contractor shall assign a unique number to each mold cavity. Molds shall be engraved or milled to allow imprinting of the following information on the rubber in accordance with drawing specifications:

- Shall be designed to interface and operate with the included cold runner below:

Two (2) Nozzle Open Tip Cold Runner – One (1) Each
- Shall be designed to operate with a Desma model D 968.400 ZO 400 ton double shuttle injection press currently in use by RRAD.
- Solid block construction of elastomer distribution plate
- Passages through the block shall be gun drilled for precision
- All elastomer passage transitions shall be made with hardened steel diverters
- Nozzle towers shall be 420 stainless steel for longevity
- Nozzle tips shall be a flat tip spring loaded design
- Tips shall be serviceable from the cold runner parting line
- Hoses and vacuum lines required for operation shall be included
