1. INTRODUCTION
UC San Diego Health (UCSDH) is one of five academic medical centers within the 10-campus University of
California system. Collectively known as UC Health, these medical centers comprise the fourth largest
health care delivery system in California and train nearly 50 percent of the state’s medical students and
medical residents.
As part of a public trust organization, UC Health serves as a safety net for individuals in need. Nearly 60
percent of UC patients are covered by Medicare, Medi-Cal or lack health insurance. To fulfill our mission,
UC San Diego Health currently maintains a three-campus strategy, integrating research, teaching and
clinical care at locations in Hillcrest and La Jolla. Each medical complex supports acute inpatient care and
a spectrum of outpatient primary and specialty medical and surgical services, including ambulatory and
emergency patient care.
Our three hospitals operate under one license with a current combined capacity of 808 beds: UC San
Diego Medical Center in Hillcrest (390 beds), Jacobs Medical Center (364 beds), UC San Diego East
Campus Medical Center (306 beds) and Sulpizio Cardiovascular Center (54 beds). Revenue Cycle, within
the Finance Division oversees a net patient revenue of $2.8 Billion in Hospital services annually.
2. REQUEST OVERVIEW
2.1. PROJECT GOALS
UC San Diego Health (UCSDH), acting through its Facilities Department, is soliciting quotations for HVAC
Mechanical Services. The goal of these services is to partner with one or more qualified and reliable
vendors to support the HVAC Mechanical needs of UC San Diego Health. Vendors must be able to
support the needs of the Health System 24 hours a day, seven days a week, as needed. Services include
both regularly scheduled and emergency maintenance.
UC San Diego Health reserves the right to award all, part or none of the item(s) covered by this RFQ and
to contract in the best interests of UC San Diego Health.
Vendors are advised that UC San Diego Health will not guarantee any minimum utilization or expenditures
with any vendor during the proposed contract period.
2.2. CURRENT ENVIRONMENT
UC San Diego Health currently uses multiple vendors to service the HVAC mechanical needs at the Medical
Center campuses and other UCSDH locations (administrative buildings, medical clinics, etc.).

2.3. REQUESTED INFORMATION
2.3.1. OVERVIEW
UC San Diego Health is soliciting via this Request for Quotation (RFQ) for HVAC Mechanical Services.

2.3.2. FEATURES
The successful proposal shall offer the following features:
A. Place of Service Performance
• UCSD Health locations provided in 2.1 Overview
B. Staff
• Staff must have experience providing HVAC maintenance services
• Staff must be appropriately certified and licensed, as required by the State of California
• Staff must be appropriately certified, as required by the equipment/system manufacturer
• Staff should be experienced operating in a Healthcare setting
• Staff must adhere to UC San Diego Health’s Required Screening and Documentation for Contracted
Non-Clinical Staff, provided as Exhibit C, when providing services in a clinical setting
C. Hours of Operation & Scheduling
• Routine scheduling: Twenty-four hours, seven days a week
• Emergency Response Services: Twenty-four hours, seven days a week

Staff must arrive on site within two - four hours of service request/notification
D. Services Offered
Services include, but are not limited to:
• Installation of equipment
• Equipment diagnosis and repair
• Air duct replacement, in accordance with the Freer manual
• Maintenance of HVAC mechanical systems, as needed
• Humidifier maintenance
• Compressed air system maintenance
• Thermostat installation and maintenance
• HEPA & prefilter installation on air scrubbers and negative air machines
E. Equipment/Hardware Requirements
• Vendor-provided mobile air containment unit (MACCU) with HEPA certified and tested filter, as
needed.

• Vendor and staff must be HIPAA compliant.
