NOTICE TO CONTRACTORS – INVITATION TO BID
Sealed bids for the Strouds Run Drive and Richland Avenue Bridge Improvements, City Project #381, will be received by the City of Athens, Ohio, at the City Building, 8 East Washington Street, until 10:30:00 AM on 2/14/2025. At that time and place, they will be publicly opened and read aloud. All bids will be considered valid until 60 days after the opening date, although not accepted or rejected.
This project includes the installation of proposed vandal protection fence (6-ft tall) along both parapets on the Stroud's Run bridge over USR 33. It also includes sealing of the existing parapets and installing architectural "City of Athens" signage in the center of the north-west facing vandal fence over the median of USR 33 for viewing by south-east bound motorists. The project also includes surface preparation and resealing of the top and inside faces of the existing parapets on the Richland Avenue bridge over the Hocking River in the city of Athens.
The Engineer’s Estimate for the Base Bid is $190,546.14.

Instructions to download bid specifications and plans will be emailed to the bidder.
Each bid shall contain the full name and address of each person or company interested in the same. It shall be accompanied by a proposal bond in the amount of one hundred percent (100%) of the bid, or by a certified check, cashier's check or irrevocable letter of credit for ten percent (10%) of the bid, made payable to the City of Athens, Ohio, conditioned that if the bid is accepted, a contract will be entered into within thirty (30) days after notice of acceptance. A performance bond of one hundred percent (100%) of the amount of the contract with a satisfactory surety company, conditioned according to law, will be required for the faithful performance of the contract.
The bidder will be required to state in full detail on his/her proposal his/her experience in this class of work, and bids from contractors inexperienced in this particular class of work will not be considered.
The work shall commence upon written notice of award by the City of Athens.
The Contractor must comply with the Federal Prevailing Wage Rates on public improvements in Athens County as ascertained by the State of Ohio Department of Industrial Relations under the Davis-Bacon Act.
The City of Athens reserves the right to waive informalities as may be in its best interest.
