THE PROPOSED PROJECT CONSISTS OF RESTORING APPROXIMATELY 1,150 LINEAR FEET OF LINVILLE CREEK AND 210 LINEAR FEET OF AN UNNAMEED TRIBUTARY TO LINVILLE CREEK WITHIN HERITAGE PARK LOCATED IN THE TOWN OF 3.
BROADWAY, VIRGINIA. THIS PROJECT IS BEING UNDERTAKEN FOR TMDL COMPLIANCE AND ECOLOGICAL IMPROVEMENT SPECIFICALLY SEDIMENT AND NUTRIENT REDUCTIONS AND INSTREAM AND RIPARIAN HABITAT. THE PROJECT IS 4.
BEING FUNDED THROUGH NATIONAL FISH AND WILDLIFE FOUNDATION TECHNICAL CAPACITY GRANT AND THE VIRGINIA DEPARTMENT OF ENVIRONMENTAL QUALITY TMDL IP GRANT.

CURRENTLY LINVILLE CREEK IS INCISED AND ENTRENCHED LACKING BOTH FLOODPLAIN CONNECTION AND AVAILABLE DEPOSITIONAL AREAS TO AND TRANSPORT THE LARGE INCOMING SEDIMENT SUPPLY. LATERAL CONSTRAINTS
SUCH AS HERITAGE PARK, BASEBALL FIELD, ABANDONED RAILROAD BED, AND SURROUNDING ROADS AND INFRASTRUCTURE ASSOCIATED WITH THE TOWN OF BROADWAY HAVE KEPT THE CHANNEL ALIGNMENT IN PLACE. EXCESSIVE
FINE SEDIMENTS HAVE BUILT UP WITHIN THE CHANNEL FROM THE LARGE SUPPLY BEING PRODUCED BY THE AGRICULTURALLY DOMINATED WATERSHED. WITHOUT AVAILABLE AREAS FOR SEDIMENT DEPOSITION AND TRAPPING TO
OCCUR INSIDE THE CHANNEL AND WITHIN THE RIPARIAN CORRIDOR, INSTREAM HABITAT AND DIVERSITY IN FLOW AND BED FORM HAVE DEGRADED OVER TIME. LINVILLE CREEK IS ACTIVELY WIDENING AND CREATING NEW INNER
FLOODPLAIN BENCHES IN SELECT AREAS ESPECIALLY DOWNSTREAM WHERE MULTIPLE TREES ARE BEING UNDERMINED AND POSING RISKS TO INCREASED FLOODING FROM DEBRIS JAMS AND LOSS TO BASEBALL FIELD'S PLAYABLE
AREA.

10. NO WORK SHALL BEGIN WITHOUT ACQUISITION OF ALL LOCAL, STATE, AND FEDERAL PERMITS AND APPROVALS.
11. THE CONTRACTOR SHALL CONTACT THE DEPARTMENT OF ENVIRONMENTAL QUALITY (DEQ) , TOWN OF BROADWAY (AND/OR ROCKINGHAM COUNTY), AND DESIGNATED EROSION AND SEDIMENT CONTORL INSPECTOR FOR A
PRE-CONSTRUCTION MEETING PRIOR TO ANY LAND DISTURBING ACTIVITIES.
12. SHOULD A DISCREPANCY BETWEEN THE PLAN SET AND THE TECHNICAL SPECIFICATIONS MANUAL EXIST, THE TECHNICAL SPECIFICATIONS SHALL BE CONSIDERED MORE ACCURATE.
13. ALL GRADING ACTIVITIES SHALL INCLUDE REMOVAL AND TEMPORARY STOCKPILING OF TOP SOIL, EXECUTION OF GRADING , AND REPLACEMENT OF TOPSOIL TO ACHIEVE FINAL GRADES.
14. THE CONTRACTOR SHALL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR ANY DAMAGE TO EXISTING CONDITIONS AS A RESULT OF ITS WORK PERFORMED DURING THE CONTRACT PERIOD. THIS RESPONSIBILITY SHALL INCLUDE RE-SEEDING DISTURBED
AREAS AND TEMPORARY ACCESS ROADS.
15. THE CONTRACTOR SHALL KEEP ALL EQUIPMENT AND STAGING MATERIAL INSIDE THE LIMITS OF DISTURBANCE UNLESS PRIOR APPROVAL BY THE PROJECT ENGINEER IS PROVIDED.
16. CLEARING & GRUBBING SHALL BE CONFINED TO THOSE AREAS NEEDED FOR CONSTRUCTION ACCESS AND GRADING.
17. UNDER NO CIRCUMSTANCES ARE TREES OVER 12" DBH TO BE REMOVED WITHOUT PRIOR APPROVAL FROM THE PROJECT ENGINEER UNLESS OTHERWISE SPECIFIED WITHIN THIS PLAN SET.
18. THE CONTRACTOR IS RESPONSIBLE FOR ALL TAKE-OFF QUANTITIES INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO FILL, STONE, AND VEGETATIVE MATERIALS.
19. PLAN VIEW LOCATION OF STRUCTURES IS APPROXIMATE. STRUCTURE PLACEMENT SHOULD FOLLOW THE PROFILE VIEW AND STRUCTURE DETAILS.
