Summary
The City of Winter Park ("City") is seeking qualified contractors for the Stirling Avenue Bridge Replacement project. The project includes replacing the existing timber box culvert on Stirling Avenue, approximately 200 feet east of Lakeview Drive, with a single-span cast-in-place concrete flat slab bridge.
The work includes demolition of the existing culvert, construction of the new bridge, sheet pile retaining wall, rubble riprap, stormwater piping, utility coordination, sidewalk modifications, minor roadway reconstruction, curb & gutter, maintenance of traffic, erosion control, clearing & grubbing, and sod restoration. The completed bridge will maintain two travel lanes and provide pedestrian facilities constructed to meet current ADA requirements.
Background
Stirling Avenue serves as a local connection within an established Winter Park neighborhood and supports daily access for residents, pedestrians, cyclists, motorists, emergency services, and maintenance operations. The existing timber box culvert is an aging crossing that must be replaced to maintain reliable access and support the continued safe use of this corridor.
The City is undertaking this project to preserve neighborhood connectivity, improve the condition of public infrastructure, and provide a more durable crossing that can better serve the community long term. The project reflects the City’s continued focus on safe streets, accessible pedestrian facilities, dependable infrastructure, and well-maintained public assets within established neighborhoods.
