Steinhatchee Springs #22 Timber Sale

The sale consists of two areas totaling 298 acres of 32-year-old planted slash pine. Sale Area 1 is a 283-acre marked second thinning. The trees to be harvested are marked with blue paint at eye level. All unmarked trees are to be left standing and unharmed. The area was initially thinned in 2008. The loading ramps, skid trails, and take rows from the 2008 thinning are to be used for this harvest. Sale Area 2 consists of six scattered areas totaling 15 acres within the thinning block that are to be clear-cut for natural regeneration research. These areas have orange painted trees along the boundaries and do not have blue painted trees. Logging debris is to be scattered back through the thinned stand.
