SSN – SIG SAUER MCX 5.56 Rifles and Accessories (Phase II)

The City of Hialeah Police Department intends to issue a sole source solicitation to procure SIG SAUER MCX 5.56 rifles, suppressors, and optical systems to complete the second phase of its patrol rifle standardization project. The Department previously purchased the first half of the order and now seeks to outfit the remaining sworn personnel with the same platform to maintain consistency in operations, training, and maintenance. The procurement will be conducted in accordance with Section 26 (Sole Source Purchases) of the City of Hialeah Purchasing Manual.

In FY 2025, the City of Hialeah Police Department initiated a phased program to replace legacy patrol rifles with standardized SIG SAUER MCX 5.56mm Short-Barreled Rifles (SBRs) equipped with ROMEO8T red dot optics, SLX compact suppressors, and protective accessories. The initial phase equipped a portion of sworn officers with the new system, significantly enhancing interoperability, accuracy, and officer safety during tactical operations.

The current phase (Phase II) seeks to complete the transition by outfitting the remaining sworn staff with identical weapons and accessories. Standardization across all units ensures uniformity in training, reduces logistical complexity, and allows the Department’s armory to maintain a single line of support equipment and spare parts.
