Title: SR 83 (US 331) Landscaping Improvements
Addenda: 0
Release Date: 10/16/2025
Due Date: 11/17/2025
The proposed project, hereinafter referred to as the “Project” consists of the sod replacement and irrigation installation of SR 83 (US 331) Scenic Corridor median from SR 30 (US 98) to north of Chat Holley Road.
Contract Time: The contract duration is SIXTY (60) days to substantial completion with an additional THIRTY(30) days for punch list completion.
Walton County is seeking qualified contractors to perform median improvement and landscaping services along the SR 83 (US 331) Scenic Corridor, from SR 30 (US 98) to north of Chat Holley Road. This high-visibility area serves as a key gateway to South Walton and requires enhanced landscape maintenance that reflects the County’s commitment to aesthetics, public safety, and environmental care.
The Project includes the removal of existing sod, installation of new Zoysia sod, and expansion of the existing irrigation system to ensure full coverage of the enhanced median area. The selected contractor will be responsible for providing all labor, materials, tools, vehicles, and equipment necessary to complete the work as specified. Contractors must also hold a current Maintenance of Traffic (MOT) certification and a valid Limited Lawn and Ornamental pesticide certification to ensure compliance with roadway safety and vegetation management standards.
In addition to sod and irrigation work, responsibilities include:
-
Trash and litter collection/removal
-
Tree and bed area maintenance
-
Irrigation system installation, testing, and one-year performance monitoring
-
Traffic control planning and safety compliance during lane closures
-
Waste disposal in accordance with local, state, and federal regulations
All work must be performed in accordance with current Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) standards and the 2012 (or newer) version of A Guide to Roadside Vegetation Management. The County will provide a designated staging area along SR 83 (US 331) for material storage, but security and loss prevention remain the contractor's responsibility.
This Project is part of the County’s broader effort to maintain and enhance the scenic quality of SR 83 (US 331), improve roadway aesthetics, and support tourism and community pride in South Walton.
