Sprinker Recreation Center - Building Renovations

From the 2024 Masterplan report for the Sprinker Recreation and Community Center, develop the design and engineering for Phase 1 of the building. Designs will be developed to construction documents sufficient for public bid. This work includes facilitating public outreach to support the design, supporting grant acquisition, and providing design documents sufficient for permitting and bidding for construction.

The Sprinker Recreation Center is located in the Parkland/Spanaway community of Pierce County. Sprinker Recreation Center community center is approximately 85,000 sq ft and includes an ice-skating rink, indoor tennis courts, racquetball courts, and community spaces. In 2022, an energy model of the building showed a 30.1 excess EUI usage, indicating the need for clean building improvements. In 2024, through a public process, the Masterplan Project was created and adopted by the Pierce County Parks Board. Phase 1 of this masterplan includes expansion of lobby and admin spaces, elevated running track installation, conversion of the tennis courts into multipurpose sports courts, additional meeting and fitness spaces, conversion of the racquetball courts, structural upgrades, and clean building energy improvements.
