The Corps of Engineers has a requirement for replacement of the asphalt shingles on Building 265 at Fort Riley, Kansas to photovoltaic (PV) shingles. The building is single-story, built in 1904, and is considered a historic facility. It requires solar shingles roof to demonstrate the efficiency and reliability, and associated resilience of advanced photovoltaic (PV) shingles.
The work of this contract is to replace the existing building asphalt shingles with solar (PV) shingles and associated monitoring systems. All installation work shall be completed 85 days after contract award. The work includes (but not limited to) the following:
- Removal and disposal of existing roofing materials in accordance with all applicable regulations.
- Installation of a new, fully integrated solar shingle roofing system no later than eighty-five (85) days after award.
- Determine the estimated annual demand (kW) and energy (kWhr) production via an industry-standard modeling program from the installed solar shingles twelve (12) months after installation.
- Installing industry-standard data loggers to determine actual demand (kW) and energy (kWhr) production of the entire solar shingle installation.
- Warranty and maintenance of solar shingles and data loggers.
- Providing a written report on the results of the installation and performance of the PV shingles.
The anticipated Magnitude of Construction in accordance with FAR 36.204 is between $100,000 and $250,000.
