1.1. PROJECT INFORMATION
A. Notice to Bidders: Prequalified bidders are herebyinvited to submit bids for the SMSD 2026 Roof Improvements
project. Bids shall be fully executed, signed and sealed in envelopes as describedin this Document according to
the Instructions to Bidders and as amendedby the Supplementary Instructions to Bidders.

1.2 BID SUBMITTAL AND OPENING
A. Ownerwill receive sealed bids until the bid time and date at the location indicated below. Ownerwill consider bids
prepared in compliancewith the Instructions to Bidders issued by Owner, and delivered asfollows:
1. Bid Date: December 18, 2025.
2. Bid Time: 10:00 am.
3. Location: Center of Academic Achievement, 8200 W.71st St., Overland Park, KS 66204.
B. Bids will be thereafter publicly opened and read aloud. Bids received after the bid time listed above will be
returned to the Bidder unopened.
1.3. BID SECURITY
A. Bid security shall be submitted with each bid of $15,000 orgreater in the amount of 5 percentof the bid amount,
includingall additive alternates and made payable to the Owner. No bids may be withdrawnfor a period of 60
days after openingofbids.
4. Ownerreservestheright to reject any and all bids andto waiveinformalities andirregularities.
1.4 PREBID CONFERENCE
A. APrebid Conferenceforall bidders will be held at: Shawnee Mission Unified SchoolDistrict No. 512, Center for
Academic Achievement 112A, 8200 West 71st Street, Shawnee Mission, Kansas 66204, on December11, 2025,
at 11:00 a.m., local time. Attending Pre-bid Conference is not mandatory for bidding.
1.5 DOCUMENT PROCUREMENT
A. Printed Procurement and Contracting Documents: Obtain after December2, 2025, by contacting Drexel
Technologies, (913) 371-4430, www.drexeltech.com.
1. All contractors may purchaseprinted sets of bidding documentsat cost by contacting Drexel Technologies,
Inc.

2. Copies of plans and specifications can be seen or purchased for a Non-Refundable fee on-line at
www.drexeltech.com in their eDistribution plan room, additional assistanceis available at
distribution@drexeltech.com. Information regarding this project can be found in the “Public Jobs”link on
the website. Contractors desiring the Contract Documents for use in preparing bids mayalso obtain a set
of such documents from Drexel Technologies; 10840 West 86th Street, Lenexa, KS 66214, telephone
numberis 913-371-4430. Bidding documentswill be shipped only if the requesting party assumes
responsibility for all related charges. Corporate, certified, or cashier’s checks shall be made payable to
Drexel Technologies, Inc.
a. Only complete sets of documentswill be issued.
B. Online Procurement and Contracting Documents: Obtain access after November 12, 2024 by contacting Drexel
Technologies, (913) 371-4430, www.drexeltech.com. Online access will be provided to prime bidders, and toall
registered bidders and material suppliers.
C. Examination of the Bidding Documents: Bidding documents will be on file at Drexel Technologies,Inc. for bidder's
review and examination, during normal business hours. Bidding documents mayalso be viewed on-line at
www.drexeltech.com, in accordancewith the Instructions to Bidders.
1.6 TIME OF COMPLETION AND LIQUIDATED DAMAGES
A. Bidders shall begin the Work on receipt of the Notice to Proceed and shall complete the Work within the Contract
Time. Workis subject to liquidated damages.
B. Timeis of the essenceforthis Project. Bidders shall begin the Work on receipt of the Notice to Proceed and shall
achieve Substantial Completion as set forth: must be completed by the dates indicated below:
1. Start Date: June 1, 2026.
2. Substantial Completion: July 17, 2026.
3. Final Completion: July 24, 2026.
C. Final Completion shall be achieved as noted after the established date of substantial completion, to include the
issuanceof the architect-engineer punchlist to the general contractor for the affected building area.
D. Liquidated Damagesfor substantial completion will be assessedif the general contractor has not achieved
adequate progressto permit schooldistrict personnel occupancy anduseofall noted areas of the building and/or
site in accordance with the dates for substantial completion noted above. Damageswill accrue and will be based
on the unavailability of the building space(s) and/orsite for their intended purposes as determined by the school
district. Liquidated damagesnoted are tiered and are based onthe intended useofthe building and/orsite in
accordance with the school schedules proposedorestablished.
1. Final completion of constructionrelated activities including the satisfactory completionof all punchlist
corrections shall be completed in accordancewith the timeframe noted abovefor each building and/or area.
Liquidated damagesassociated with final completion shall be assessed based on anyactual costincurred
by the schooldistrict due to the restricted use ofthe facility; and for costs that may be associated with
inconvenience, lackof efficiency, and/ordistrict personnel costs associated with providing exclusive access
for the general contractor to complete punchlist corrections after normal school day operation and/or on
weekends orholidays. Similarly, any actual costs incurred by the schooldistrict for extended or additional
architect/engineer services made necessary as a result of the general contractor's inability to meetfinal
completion will be assessed asliquidated damagesto the general contractor.
E. Bidders shall begin the Work on receipt of the Notice to Proceed and shall complete the Work within the Contract
Time. Work is subject to liquidated damagesin the amount of $1,000 per dayforthe first week of Substantial
Completion. Workis subjectto liquidated damages in the amount of $5,000 per dayafter July 24, 2026.
1.7. BIDDER'S QUALIFICATIONS
A. Bidders must be properly licensed under the laws governing their respective trades and beable to obtain
insurance and bondsrequired for the Work. A Performance Bond, a separate Labor and Material Payment Bond,
and Insurance in a form acceptable to Ownerwill be required of the successful Bidder.
