CITY OF MARION, SC - REQUEST FOR SEALED BIDS
The City of Marion is accepting sealed bids for the purchase of smoke alarms and carbon
monoxide detectors for the Marion Fire Department. Sealed bids must be received no later
than 11:00 am on Thursday, August 6, 2026, at Marion City Hall, 107 S. Main Street, P.O. Box
1190, Marion, SC 29571.

The City of Marion reserves the right to reject any or all bids, waive informalities, and award
the bid in the manner determined to be in the best interest of the City. The City may award
all items to a single vendor or make multiple awards by line item if doing so results in the
greatest overall value and the maximum number of qualifying devices that can be
purchased within the available grant funding. The invitation to bid does not obligate the
City to purchase any minimum quantity or to award a contract. Equal Opportunity Employer.
BID SPECIFICATIONS
The Marion Fire Department has been awarded grant funding to purchase residential
smoke alarms and carbon monoxide detectors for community distribution.
Available funding is allocated as follows:
* Smoke Alarms: Up to $20,000
* Carbon Monoxide Detectors: Up to $5,000
The City's primary objective is to maximize the number of qualifying devices purchased
within the available grant funding while ensuring the products meet or exceed the required
specifications. Bidders shall provide a unit price for each item listed below, and a total price
to include all shipping, delivery, and associated costs.
ITEM 1 - SMOKE ALARMS
Specification:
* Kidde 10-Year Battery Smoke Alarm (Model P3010K-CO or current equivalent model)
* Sealed 10-year lithium battery
* Photoelectric sensing technology
* Test/Hush button
* End-of-life warning
* UL Listed
Approved Equal: Vendors may propose an equivalent or better product. Any substitution
must include manufacturer, model number, complete product specifications, and
documentation demonstrating equivalency or superior performance.
ITEM 2 - CARBON MONOXIDE DETECTORS
Specification:
* Kidde 10-Year Battery Carbon Monoxide Alarm (Model COB10 or current equivalent)
* Sealed 10-year lithium battery
* Digital status/indicator lights
* Test/Reset button
* End-of-life notification
* UL Listed
Approved Equal: Vendors may propose an equivalent or better product. Any substitution
must include manufacturer, model number, complete product specifications, and
documentation demonstrating equivalency or superior performance.
Contractor Requirements
* Product literature for any substitute products
* W-9
* Estimated delivery time after receipt of purchase order
AWARD
The City will evaluate bids based upon compliance with specifications, unit pricing, product
quality and equivalency, ability to maximize the total number of devices purchased within
the grant funding, and delivery time. The City reserves the right to award both items to one
vendor; award each line item separately to different vendors; purchase quantities based
upon available grant funding and unit prices received; and reject substitute products that
do not meet or exceed the required specifications.
