Amendment 0001 to the RFP is hereby issued and attached for download. The purpose of the amendment is to make the following changes to the Solicitation:
Clarify Site Visit Time

The Smithsonian Institution is seeking offers to remediate Hanta and Security threat at Base Camp project located at 670 Mt. Hopkins Road, Amado, Arizona, as described herein and the Contract Documents, including, without limitation, in the Specifications and Drawings for SF Project No. 1583808 both dated March 5, 2025.
All of the requirements which the successful Offeror must meet concerning this project are set forth in detail in the solicitation Documents included with this Request for Proposal. Upon the receipt of Technical and Cost Proposals and the selection of a successful Offeror, the Smithsonian Institution will execute a Fixed Price construction contract. The Smithsonian currently estimates that the fixed price for the entire project (Base Contract plus Option 1) will exceed $10 Million.
The Work includes, but is not limited to:
- Construction of a new Summit Dormitory Addition connected to the existing Commons Building
- The building systems include HVAC, Electrical, Plumbing, Fire Suppression and Alarm, Security
- New fire water tank and accessories
- Install standing seam metal roof assemblies to match and coordinate with the existing Commons Building
- Provide new siding over existing on the Commons Building to match the new Dorm Addition siding
- Install Lightning Protection to coordinate with existing Commons system
- Commissioning
- Work in the Commons Building includes but limited to Fire Suppression and Alarm, Security systems; replacement of electrical panels; removal of the Dock lift; infilling existing door opening on the lower level.
- Demolition of the Existing Dormitory, site structures, and restoration of the site (Option 1)
Critical Elements of the Work: The successful Contractor shall be fully qualified to install critical elements of the Work. Upon request of the Contracting Officer, shall submit a statement of qualifications to address the following critical elements of the Work:
- Use of Construction Management Software and maintaining project website
- Scheduling coordination with ongoing operations and site constraints
- Working on a remote National Forest site
- Scheduling coordination with site constraints (Spotted Owl Mating Season)
PRE-BID TOUR OF THE SITE
The Pre-proposal meeting is scheduled for Tuesday, May 6, 2025, at 8:00 AM Mountain Time.
REQUEST FOR CLARIFICATIONS
Itis requested that all questions be sent in no later than May 27, 2025.
THE PROPOSAL DUE DATE IS MONDAY, JUNE 23, 2025, AT 5:00 PM EASTERN STANDARD TIME (EST).
The subcontracting goals for this project are: 40% with small business concerns. At least 7% with Service-Disabled Veteran-owned small businesses (SDV).
Davis Bacon Building Wage Determination AZ20250028 dated 2/14/2025 and Heavy Wage Determination AZ20250053 dated 01/03/2025 shall apply.
The Period of Performance for the Base Contract and Option 1, if exercised, is 520 Calendar Days from the date of Notice to Proceed.
