Description:
San Jose State University is requesting Statements of Qualifications (SOQ) from interested and qualified design-builders (Respondents) to design and build the above-named Project. The University will select a design-build team consisting of a mechanical contractor and engineer/architect (Design-Builder) using a two-step process: (1) this Request for Qualifications (RFQ) from which Respondents may submit SOQ to the University, and (2) the Request for Proposals (RFP) which the University will issue to the sho rtlisted firms. A technical review committee shall review the respondents¿ SOQ and, based on the criteria identified in the RFQ, the committee shall select no more than four finalists to receive the Request for Proposals. Selection of the winning Proposer will be based on the statement of qualifications and the proposed development cost. The University will issue a design-build agreement for this project. In general, the scope of work consists of the design and construction, under a procedure more commonly referred to as ¿turnkey construction¿, of the Duncan Hall Steam Line Replacements. The Project includes:
1.Removal and replacement of steam to heating hot water systems.
2.Installation of Five 85-ton water-to-water heat pumps tied into the existing buildings hydronicsystems, building & district chilled water, electrical, and controls systems.
3.Modify existing HVAC heating coils, hydronic systems, and controls to facilitate the water-towater-heat pumps performance criteria.
