Brief Description

The Iowa Department of Transportation’s (Iowa DOT) Bridges and Structures Bureau is interested in entering into a professional services contract with up to two consultant firms to provide sign structure inspection services for the 2026 Sign Inspections project. If your firm is interested in providing the described services, please submit a proposal stating your ability and availability to complete this work.

AASHTO Manual for the Condition Evaluation of Bridges
FHWA Bridge Inspector’s Reference Manual
AASHTO Standard Specifications for Highway Bridges
Iowa Department of Transportation Standard Specifications for Highway and Bridge
Construction
Iowa Department of Transportation Manual for Inspection of Sign Structures, Bridge-
Mounted Support Frames, Long Mast Arm Structures, and Highmast Lighting Towers
shall be followed.
Traffic control shall conform to the current Iowa DOT Standard Road Plans, series TC
(Traffic Control) and the FHWA Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices. All vehicles
parked in the right of way shall have a top mounted revolving or flashing amber light visible
from 360 degrees.
All inspection findings shall be recorded in the Iowa DOT SIIMS database.
