INVITATION TO BID

The Calhoun County Commission will on Tuesday, January 20, 2025, at 2:00 p.m. receive

competitive sealed bids for Uniform Footwear and Boots for the Sheriff's Office and Jail.

Specifications are as follows:

• The bid award, if there is any, will be to the bidder offering the highest percentage off the

MSRP of all footwear.

• The bidder is required to provide their most current price list at the time of bid.

• All bidders are required to provide a variation of at least five brands of boots and shoes.

• Brand names may include, but shall not be limited to the following, or the equivalent of the

following brands:

Under Armor

Thorogood

Danner

Magnum

ReeBok

Belliville

Propper

Ridge Aire

Footwear orders will be delivered complete, no later than two weeks after ordered, to the Sheriff's

Office. No partial orders will be accepted. Each employee's order will be labeled with employee’s

name attached. If there is any change from specifications as per bid, the vendor must state the

changes in writing. A minimum of 30% of footwear will be kept in stock to be purchased as needed.

Sealed bids with the words "Sheriff’s Uniform Footwear Bid" on the outside must be submitted to

the Calhoun County Commission, 1702 Noble Street, Suite 103, Anniston, Alabama 36201, no later

than Tuesday, January 20, 2025, at 2:00 p.m. Central Time, at which time the bids will be opened

and read aloud. Questions and requests for additional information concerning this solicitation should

be directed to Jennifer Mickler, Calhoun County Sheriff’s Office, 400 West 8th Street, Anniston,

Alabama 36201, (256) 236-6600.

The contract period will be for one year, effective upon award of bid, with the option to extend

annually for two additional years, if agreeable to the County and the vendor.

Important: A bid bond in the amount of two hundred fifty dollars ($250.00) is required from each

vendor submitting a bid. A certified check or other irrevocable negotiable instrument made payable

to the Calhoun County Commission is acceptable in lieu of a bid bond. The bid bond, or certified

check or another irrevocable negotiable instrument, as herein required, shall be submitted in the

envelope containing the bid. The bid bonds, certified checks, and irrevocable negotiable instruments

will be returned to all vendors upon award of the bid to the successful vendor, unless earlier or

otherwise required by law.

FAILURE TO SUBMIT A BID BOND OR CERTIFIED CHECK IN LIEU OF A BID BOND,

AS HEREIN REQUIRED, WILL CAUSE YOUR BID TO BE REJECTED. IF A BIDDER

SUBMITS A BID BOND AND THE BID BOND IS NOT EXECUTED BY THE PRINCIPAL

AND THE SURETY THE BIDDER’S BID WILL BE REJECTED.

Immigration Compliance: The selected vendor will, by accepting this bid award, agree to the

following: By signing this contract, the contracting parties affirm, for the duration of the agreement,

that they will not violate federal immigration law or knowingly employ, hire for employment, or

continue to employ an unauthorized alien within the state of Alabama. Furthermore, a contracting

party found to be in violation of this provision shall be deemed in breach of the contract and shall be

responsible for all damages resulting therefrom.

By signing this Contract, the contracting parties affirm, for the duration of this agreement to remain

in compliance with Act 2016-312, the Parties hereby agree that they are not currently engaged in,

and will not engage in, the boycott of a person or an entity based in or doing business with a

jurisdiction with which this state can enjoy open trade.

The selected vendor must complete all necessary paperwork required by the County for verification

of enrollment in the e-verify program to verify full compliance with the Immigration Reform and

Control Act of 1986, as amended by Immigration Act of 1990 and the Beason-Hammon Alabama

Taxpayer and Citizen Protection Act, as amended.

To the fullest extent allowed by law, a preference will be given for American made products.

Notwithstanding anything else herein provided, the Calhoun County Commission reserves the right to

reject any or all bids, to waive any formality in bids, and to accept in whole or in part, a bid, solely at its

discretion if, in Calhoun County’s judgement, the best interests of Calhoun County and the Calhoun

County Commission will thereby be protected and/or served. The Calhoun County Commission also

fully reserves the right allowed by applicable laws and regulations, to negotiate with the lowest

responsive, responsible bidder selected.
