ARROW Utilities is seeking expressions of interest from qualified vendors to replace its existing hyperconverged infrastructure, a four-node Dell VxRail system deployed in 2020. Now entering its sixth year of service, the current platform has reached the end of its optimal lifecycle and is increasingly constrained by rising support costs, evolving licensing models, and limited scalability.
Recent changes to VMware licensing, specifically Broadcom’s shift to mandatory VMware Cloud Foundation (VCF) tiers, have significantly increased the cost of maintaining the existing system, with renewal quotes nearly doubling budgeted expectations. These pressures have prompted ARROW Utilities to allocate capital funding for an infrastructure refresh in 2026, with the goal of modernizing its data center environment while reducing long-term operational risk.
This RFEI represents an opportunity for vendors to showcase innovative, cost-effective, and scalable solutions that align with ARROW Utilities’ strategic IT objectives.
