Seeds: Cleaned and Germ Tested Black Spruce and Jack Pine Seeds

The Minnesota Department of Administration, Office of State Procurement on behalf of the Department of Natural Resources, Forestry Division of the State Forest Nursery Department intends to purchase cleaned and germ tested Black Spruce seeds and Jack Pine seeds in quantities as follows:

• Up to 48 pounds – Black Spruce
• Up to 30 pounds – Jack Pine

These seeds must be shipped to 13885 State Highway 64, Akeley, Minnesota, 56433 by April 15, 2025.

This procurement has been deemed a single source as Morning Star Forestry, LLC, is the only vendor that can provide both seed species from the specific seed zone that matches the Northern Seed Zone for Minnesota. This vendor is also the only vendor that has the capacity to provide already cleaned seed that has been germination tested to ensure viability. This vendor is the only vendor that can provide the needed quantities due to the Minnesota State Forest Nursery’s lack of seed availability for future production.
